In the Stars of the Cauldron Awards venue, Mercury sits on a table facing six gleaming Rainbow Crystals of various colors, all of which are resting on top of a purple velvet pillow. She stares at them intently, then does a double take. “Wait. Why are there only six? I thought there were seven rainbow crystals.”
Nearby, Uranus turns to look at her. “Er… well. There are only six available positions in the Roleplay Moderator department.”
Mercury twitches. “That’s going to bother me now.”
Uranus nods somberly. “It is quite a predicament.”
“What if you add another one? Surely you can always use another person. There
needs to be seven Rainbow Crystals.”
Uranus looks at her with a blank expression, seemingly at a loss for how to respond.
“Ooh! I know! Maybe you can give one to me! As honorary staff or something.”
“Um…” Uranus says uncertainly, “…do you think you could just announce the award?”
Mercury blushes. “Oh! Right! But seriously. Think about it.
Seven Rainbow Crystals.”
Uranus nods reassuringly. “Of course, of course. We mustn’t let such an oversight upset our sensibilities.”
Her concerns assuaged, Mercury returns to the six Rainbow Crystals. She then picks up two pristine white envelopes waiting beside her and walks toward the podium at last. Uranus secretly heaves a sigh of relief behind her.
“Ladies and gentlemen of the Galaxy Cauldron!” Mercury announces brightly. “We’re here tonight to celebrate a very special individual. A staff member from the roleplaying section. A moderator whose hard work is shown through the brilliant shine of her Rainbow Crystal.”
She then opens the envelope and raises an eyebrow in surprise. “Well, that’s interesting. It seems like we had two very strong contenders.” She looks up at the audience and beams.
“The two brightest Rainbow Crystals belong to: JupiterThunderCrash and Addelyn!”
“These two ladies are both wonderful and valuable staff members in the roleplaying section. As a frequent roleplayer myself, I have gotten to know both of them very well over the course of the last year. And I am pleased to be able to say they have become my friends.
Addy was the first person I started a two-person roleplay with and one of the first people who helped reignite the activity of the roleplaying section. She’s one of those really active people who could be found both participating in a lot of things and helping out in various ways behind the scenes. Have you seen her otaku, Sailor Soul? She changed an original character with a very basic information from the Otakus R’ Us shop to someone with fully fleshed background, a solid and lengthy history, and one that spawned a fifteen page two-person roleplay that is only just the beginning! She created a three-dimensional character out of a very basic framework, which shows off her writing skills really well.
And JTC, as we lovingly call her, has always been such a fun roleplay partner. With her collection of Galilean senshi, and her unique idea with the gender-changing Sailor Ganymede, she’s that girl who can pop four to five otakus at a time, be it heroes or villains. Plotting and bouncing ideas off of her has become one of my favorite parts of roleplaying, and I love how creative she is and how she’s willing to just go with any of my own crazy ideas. Thank you for enlightening me always, JTC! You never fail to make me smile with our random conversations.
Well, I have spouted enough words that I’d be surprised if you all haven’t gone to sleep already by now. Okay, guys, the announcement is coming. The wait is no more. The—what?”
Mercury seems to be listening to her earpiece for a moment. “What do you mean, wrap it up?
I am! Also, they still have to come up and accept the award and do the acceptance speech. What—we’re
so not running late already. It’s only like the third day!”
She shakes her head and refocuses on the audience, mumbling something about people having no respect for lengthy words and the need to read a certain Sailor Moon Tumblr blog. “Well. Without further ado, then. Obviously, both these ladies deserve their awards. But there can only be one winner.”
“And the Stars of the Cauldron Award for Best Roleplay Moderator goes to....”
She wrestles with a second envelope and finally wrenches it open.
- The winner is…:
JupiterThunderCrash!!!Congratulations JTC!! In such a short amount of time since you've been hired, you have managed to show your exemplary professionalism and take care of issues and problems that arise in your section with finesse. Despite being one of the quieter sections for all these years, the Freeform forum has come alive really nicely under your care since you were assigned to it, which I assure you is a very good sign despite the additional workload You're an inspiration to us all, and please keep doing what you do! Thank you for all your work!
Addy, you should know that you are very much appreciated as well! You only lost by one vote, so this was a very close race. You both are hard-working and great staff members who deserve this recognition.
Congrats again to JupiterThunderCrash!!!
