Nehelenia tilted her head in interest to Pluto’s words. So she would guard here until her daughter could take over. It sounded like a boring job, one that chained you to where you stood. Nehelenia hated being sent to the other side of the moon, which was why she ventured out so much. She was a free spirit and needed to be her own person.


“I am glad you like the books, and I guess if you are happy with your job, I can’t object. You have more patience than I. I could never stand to be here for so long, doesn’t it ever get boring? How do you pass all of those lonely hours?” she asked trying to put a hint of guilt into Pluto’s spirits. She wanted Pluto to know loneliness, but also in a way wanted to comfort her when Pluto felt lonely.

She smiled a bit at Nehelenia's words. “Yes, I am happy. I'm proud to be the guardian of time.” Then she smiled more musingly over her questions about boredom and how she passed the time. She leaned back into her chair and reached for one of the pastries, tearing off a bit and taking a bite. She smiled at the sweet flavor.

“I think. And I watch. I am able to observe the past and what could happen in the future. I follow the threads of what might be, what leads to them and what tapestry they create eventually.” But she didn't reveal it was the Garnet Orb that allowed her to do this. There were some things you didn't tell anyone, even a queen of the moon.

Nehelenia listened closely to Pluto as she spoke. Nehelenia was curious about her ability. Could Pluto predict the future, or was it more like one option of the future. She wondered why Pluto would want to dwell on the past, though Nehelenia was guilty of that same feat herself.

She wanted to get back at Selenity, make her pay for banishing her to the dead moon. Pluto decided to test the waters a bit, hoping she wouldn’t sound suspicious.


“Do you think there is any way you could see what might be in my future? I spend so much time wondering what happen, it might be nice to know….you know since I have so much time on my hands, maybe I can pick up a hobby or find better ways to spend all my free time I have….maybe I can find tasks for my servants…I mean workers to do for me to help brighten up my palace.”

Pluto looked at Nehelenia, blinking slightly as she asked her question, then smiled a little sadly to her. “I'm sorry. Even if I looked, I would be unable to tell you. No one can know too much about their future.” She turned her head away, averting her red eyes, her expression vaguely guilty but more firm than anything else. She continued to pick at the pastry sitting in front of her a little, waiting to see how the dark queen would take her response. She well knew the desire of any intelligent being to know what the future held. But history had to follow it's own path, for good or ill.

Nehelenia felt a hint of guilt for asking something so brash from Pluto. 

“I’m sorry, that was rude of me to ask. I guess, sometimes knowing the future is something I would like, but if I knew the future, it wouldn’t be a surprise. Forgive my rudeness.”

 Nehelenia said as she walked over to Pluto and placed her hand on her chin. Nehelenia rose Pluto’s chin, to meet her gaze. 

“Hey why don’t you tell me another story about being the guardian of time. Surely holding a position for so long, you have encountered some interesting people.” Nehelenia raised her eyebrow in anticipation to hear what Pluto would see.
