I wasn't sure if I should post it here or in the Seramyu section so my apologies if this isn't in the right spot.  I'm really excited for this news! Quick disclaimer: I've actually never watched any of the Seramyu. However, I'm still really happy there's going to be more musicals! I'm hoping that's a sign that we'll also get musicals (and maybe even new anime) for the remaining arcs. We're already starting to see merchandise for the SuperS season come out, so let's hope they're steadily rolling out more things for each arc as we go.

I didn't know where to post it but I had also posted this in the News section of these forums but I'm really excited for this and I hope we'll get Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn in it.

Other than the Outer Senshi, I'm wondering if we'll see the Witches 5, Kaolinite, and Professor Tomoe (I'm excited to see Mistress 9, and I think she's the most likely villain to be included in the musical). The number of characters really start to take off in the Death Busters arc. With so many minor villains I don't know if they're gonna try to include them all, or cut most of them out to make for a more concise plot, since the musicals last only a few hours.

If Petite Estrange was any indication for cutting out the Ayakashi Sisters, I doubt we'll see the Witches 5 but I think we'll probably see Kaorinite, Professor Tomoe, and Mistress Nine.

They should bring out the old cast. >_<

I wonder if they will follow the path their once if the musical might be about something different.

YES. Yes yes yes! These musicals have been incredible. I can't wait to see this new one.

Petite Etranger left such a bad taste in my mouth, I can't even be remotely excited. :/ THOUGH this probably means Uranus and Neptune. xD That is something to look forward to.

Personally I think I'm getting more excited about new Seramyu more than I am about new Crystal anime.  I love how the new musicals have been staying accurate to the manga source material while also expanding on it with its own original ideas and I love that they haven't been entirely focused on Usagi, like how Ami was more of a focus in the La Reconquista one.  The only thing I didn't care for much in La Reconquista was the music and I didn't like they seemed to be going with anime Mamoru's personality as much but it was otherwise pretty fantastic and I think Petite Estrange had a much better soundtrack to me and improved a lot.

Petite Estrange is definitely the better of the two musicals, but I adore them both. If you would have told me in my childhood that the best Sailor Moon reboot would be a series of musicals and not an anime based on the manga, I would have never believed you.

The plot twist alone in Petite Estrange was incredible. It was such a risky move but it worked so well in the context of the story. I can't wait to see what they pull for S.

Oh yeah, I definitely love that plot twist in Petite Estrange and I was really floored by it and I also hope for some original twists like that in the S musical.   Will Professor Tomoe be played by a woman too?

I'll likely watch it (granted I've been trying to watch the petite Entangra for like 3 weeks now and just haven't gotten through it) yet at the same time I've sorta enjoyed the new one's but I prefer the originals to the newer ones I'm honestly terrified for UraNep to come in mainly because I've seen a Myu cast a really bad Uranus so I get kinda unsure about new one's but I will definitely watch this one if for nothing more than I like Yuuga's Mamoru that's if she does actually come back to do the next musical(so far I've done nothing but compare the black moon clan to the originals who were by far much much much better than these new one's and well they actually had the ayakashi sisters or well in my opinion the black lady musicals were a bit better than what they did this time around)

My issue with the new musicals is the horrid singing, the bland music and boring lyrics, and ok story. La Reconquista I think was better than Petite Etrangere. it doesn't help that the original Black Lady was EXCELLENT and its plot twists and variation of the story were much more interesting than Petite's attempt at plot changes. Plus no one can replace Hikari Ono's Prince Demand for me and the scene where Pluto dies and Chibiusa transforms is much more emotional than in Petite Etrangere but i digress since this thread is about the new musical lol. (I know i said i was getting off topic but why are they writing Mamoru to be kind of an ass? Why does it have to seem its more about how cool Yuuga is rather than how adorable and supportive Mamoru is to Usagi while a wise and strong helper to the Soldiers...To me it feels like its Yuuga on stage in a Tuxedo Mask costume not her acting as Mamoru...maybe i just can't help but compare to older actors. )

I don't think anyone is going to every been better than Nao at Sailor Uranus.

Admittedly the music isn't up to par, especially in the first musical. That being said, I think it's important to understand that the music is inherently Japanese, so there are going to be some elements that don't sound "right." Still, that doesn't excuse some of the poor singing, especially on the parts of the inner senshi. I don't have a hard time believing that many of them have never been in musicals before.

That being said, I'd rather take good actresses over good singers. They are incredible and I immediately can connect them to their characters. Also I don't think their take on Mamoru is "mean" at all. He's stern, but not outright mean like his depiction in Crystal. Although it seems like he's more like Usagi's older brother than anything else. It's hard to picture them as boyfriend and girlfriend.

My least favorite arc has always been Black Moon, so I found it incredible that I was so invested in the musical. We'll see if they can pull off the same magic with my second favorite arc.

I'm not quite sure what you mean because I have been listening to Japanese music on a constant basis for a very long time. I know what a good song is supposed to sound like. Besides the older musicals are the same (if not even more so Japanese for many songs...) and the music is more memorable and timeless. I think it's just the composer is Akiko Kosaka and no one can beat her.  Also I've never heard a song sung in any musical (not just Sailor Moon musicals) where they sound so out of harmony like I've heard in both La Reconquista and Petite Etrangere. In the older musicals, many of the actresses that come are brand new to musicals and it is generally their first debut. For the 1993 Dark Kingdom musical, it is Anza's (and many of the other girls) first musical and she did a pretty great job in comparison to Satomi. My only guess would be that Anza might have been concentrating on singing more so than Satomi because Satomi's focus with her talent group was acting.  Marina was only 12 years old when she first debuted in the Black Lady musicals and while her singing and acting wasn't that great (notice she didn't really get any solos in that musical), I still enjoyed the performance much more the first go around than with Satomi and co.

I'm curious how many of the older musicals you've seen?  I'm just wondering cause I'm not sure what your experience with the Myus are besides the new ones. ^^


The acting is ok. I've seen much better. I don't think its all that spectacular and doesn't really make up for everything else that is sub par to me.  However, I do like many of the Inners actresses (the Jupiter is pretty awesome and I feel they can sing well enough). Not everything was awful, they just haven't wowed me over much yet. I find them to be fairly boring. It was really hard getting through Petite Etrangere (and i was streaming it so i couldn't really go do anything else). I kept wondering when it would end. :/ I was also at least expecting Satomi to have improved some (like how you see Marina improves over the years during her run). So perhaps with this third musical, she will have a much better performance.

I think also its important to remember that the new musicals are closer to a western styled musical while the older ones were more like plays with songs in them to express emotions. I think I just personally like the style of the older musicals better.


To not sound so critical here are some things I like about the new musicals:  costuming, Mako/Jupiter's actress, Rei/Mar's actress, Minako/Venus's actress, the lighting and sets, when they sing moonlight densetsu, the special guest appearances of Momoiro Clover Z in La Reconquista, showing they use today's technology, the fact that Usagi loves Otome games, "Welcome to the Game Show" in La Reconquista, how cute the Chibiusa's are (they are always cute no matter how good or bad the actresses are xD) and so on.

What would be interesting to see here is how it will compare to Mugen Gakuen. Mugen Gakuen follows the manga fairly closely in comparison to the other older musicals. Its also one of the weaker musicals (and lower ranked for me) but still very enjoyable. I'd love to see a great Haruka and Michiru come out of it AND Saturn!  Saturn was always cool.  I'll still watch it but its going to take a lot to win me over. xD

I think the music has been the part about the new Myus I've been disappointed in the most.  Like with the old musicals I could listen to certain tracks again and again but nothing really stood out to me in La Reconquista.  Petite Estrange was a little better.  I liked that cute song the Usagi Band sang at the beginning and the song Sailor Pluto sings when she's introduced so I hope they'll improve even more with the next one.  One thing I miss that's not in the new Myus was the singing of La Soldier at the end.  It was always one of the highlights from the old musicals for me and it's a shame they didn't keep it with the new ones.

The title of the new musical was announced today on the official Sailor Moon website. It's "Un Nouveau Voyage" ("A New Voyage").

I saw the poster last night on tumblr! It's pretty! If they are going back to using French maybe they'll get back to french inspired things like in the old Myu (Eien Densetsu specifically). As much as I don't like the new musicals, I look forward to the casting of Uranus and Neptune.

I am a sad human being who actually seriously considered going on my first trip to Japan just to see this.
