Appearance: She claims to be five feet tall, although the reality is that she has to strain for her head to touch the 5' mark. Her skin is a darker rosy-peach hue that freckles easily. Dee has a soft, full figure and a round face. Her dark eyes are a muddy hazel colour that shifts from brown to olive in different lighting. She has poor vision and wears thick glasses with large blue plastic frames. Most people are surprised to learn that Dee is in her early twenties--her short stature and heavier build makes others mistake her for a young and awkward teenager. At least the awkward part is correct...

Her auburn hair has a distinct reddish hue. She has long, heavy, blunt bangs that do nothing to give her a more mature appearance. Her shoulder-length hair has the ends curled under when she leaves it down, but more often it is twisted and pinned up in a messy French roll. It's a style that ought to look chic, but on Dee it seems mousy and sloppy.

Dee opts for clothing that is dark coloured and easy to launder. She spends a lot of her time tending to sick and injured people, which is far from a clean business. Most of her wardrobe is used or damaged in some way; there's no use of having nice things if they're just going to be wrecked. A lot of her garments are too big for her, because she doesn't have an accurate grasp of her clothing size. Her outfits are chosen for practicality, not style. No jewelry and no accessories. She always carries an army green canvas shoulder bag marked with a red cross, which contains her supplies.

Personality: First impressions of Dee depict her as someone flighty and fidgety, kind of immature or distracted. Loud noises or sudden motions often startle her, and without her glasses she gropes around blindly. She likes to laugh and joke, with a weird sense of humor that often has her completely hysterical while others exchange uncomfortable glances trying to understand what is so funny. The world is ending, but Dee does her best to cheer people up and keep them from losing hope. She is an excellent listener, always willing to give someone else an opportunity to talk about their problems or feelings.

In a crisis, she seems to turn into a totally different person. "Doctor Dee" and "Dee" are separate entities of the same woman. When Dee switches to "work mode," she is the most serious and focused person in the area. She performs triage with rapid speed, assessing damage and requesting subsequent care in seconds. Her proficiency rapidly raises her in the esteem of others. She is usually placed in the front lines, trusted with significant responsibility. Dee never panics when she's working. She stays completely calm under pressure and will do whatever needs to be done.

Dee hates talking about her work. When she's not at a makeshift hospital or treating in the field, she doesn't want to discuss it. She wants to chit-chat and joke around, make the most of this world as it is. She doesn't want to think of the horrors she saw or the people she couldn't save. Normally she is hard to rile up, able to laugh at herself through most criticisms, but when it comes to medical topics it is much easier to push her buttons. She turns stony and sarcastic when people insist on bringing up subjects she tried to divert from. She never knew what she wanted to do with her life before everything turned upside down, and with all that has happened she has a hard time focusing on anything beyond the immediate present.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Dee has those mythical "surgeons' hands", steady and calm, able to work with dexterity between beats of her heart. She absorbs new information rapidly.

History: Average family life and average in school, Daisy Moore was no one important to anyone at all. She went to an average college studying liberal arts and worked a part-time food service job nearby. Daisy spent time with friends and joined a few organizations on campus. Her family lived not far from Star City, where her state college was located. She was just one more face among the crowds of millions.

The day the Black Moon Clan attack occurred, everything changed. Dee had recently finished a training course on First Aid, CPR, and AED to earn extra credit in one of her classes. She suddenly found herself using those new skills when her classroom turned into rubble and she was one of the few non-critically injured. Everyone else ran, but she couldn't leave the wounded behind just to save herself.

What happened after that was a whirlwind to Dee. She met someone who introduced her to someone else who knew a guy, and that led to meeting Melvin Cross and joining his resistance. She wasn't a fighter--anyone who looked at her would guess that immediately--but she wanted to help. And Dee had just discovered that she was very, very good at diagnosing and treating injuries. In the first few weeks she learned constantly from training materials and had the unfortunate but extremely instructive first-hand experience caring for the many sick and wounded. Her medical training is primarily self-taught, but she is exploring theory in practice almost every day--and getting even better at it.

She counted the bottles again, straightening the sheets on the bed to make sure nothing was hiding in a fold. Nothing was. Dee ducked down, wheezing with effort, peering into the darkness under the metal frame.

"Please, please, please don't let there be spiders under there..." she cringed. That's where she had been sleeping for days. The last thing she needed right now was to find out a bunch of creepy-crawlies created a makeshift "bottom bunk". There were definitely some things under there that might be bugs, but she did her best not to think about it. What mattered was the lack of bottle.

She groaned as she stood up, feeling her knees ache. Not even thirty and already an old lady. Her glasses were attempting an escape down her nose, as usual; she pushed them back up. Nothing that she did and nowhere that she looked made that last bottle appear. Dee frowned, reviewing the manifest again.

10 bottles of Amoxicillin tablets: (250) 500mg tablets per bottle.

This was important, essential stuff! Who had signed off on this? She tucked the nine bottles into her satchel, fussing to herself in irritation. Dee slung the bag over her shoulder, the paper still clenched in her hand. She would march herself right over to the control room and talk to Melvin about this. She might be short, but she could certainly be loud!

Changed to specify "Black Moon Clan" attack. It's the one from the overall plot for the "Rebel Recon" storyline(s) involved as the Black Moon Clan attack on Serena and Darien's wedding day. Dee isn't familiar with Serena and Darien or the Sailor Scouts (other than brief mentions from the Star City news, but she did not live in Star City prior to attending college).

Added: Dee is providing medical services for the refuge children when she first encounters Tempy and Tesh. She winds up drawn into their story, despite her original intent, and by the time the tale is through she may have made two new friends in the resistance.
