So for years I have tried so hard to watch the Myus. Back in college I tried watching the myus by myself. I found the very first one on youtube. It had people playing Artemis and Luna. Not a a good introduction because it was way too cheesy even for Sailor Moon. Then later I watch some on here thanks to the livestream. I barely remembered them. But I do remember enjoying the vampire Myus, but they're very plot heavy. I didn't really understand them.

I really want to give them a chance again especially with all the talk of the new myus. I basically want to watching something new within the Sailor Moon series. By new I mean new to me. I'm tired of seeing the same story told again. I do know the myus add twists to the story or have new plots like the vampire ones. So any tips with helping me dive into the myus? Start with the old? Start with new? Skip the new? Opinions on the new myus?

The first musical turned me off as well - it's not a good place to start if you don't have the patience to slog through it. Took me a while before I went back because of that.

The Dracul series is also not a very good place for a newbie especially if you watched the second or third or fourth because they need to be watched in order and even then it's still confusing (I am still very confused myself).

I would suggest if you want to see a new story, to watch the Legend of Kaguya Island musicals from the old Myu. They are stand-alones and they bring a brand new story, rather than adapting any of the arcs. They are also my favorite musicals.

There are 4, but two of those are revisions of the originals (they change bits of the plot/scenes but most of the stuff remains the same). So technically there are only two, played by different sets of actresses (I haven't seen the newer version though so I can't vouch for it).

These are Kaguya Shima Densetsu (and its revision version) from 1999, and Shin Kaguya Shima Densetsu (and its revision) from 2004/2005.

Pretty much the only Dark Kingdom one is the first one that you saw. The Shitennou sometimes make appearances in other musicals though. They get revived in two Stars-based musicals (Eien Densetsu and Starlights - Ryuusei Densetsu).

And then of course there's La Reconquista, from the new Myu.

Oh shoot!! I would love to see the Shitennou in action. So much possibility in that arc!

Yes! I would definitely recommend the Kaguya shows (especially the '99 ones)! The original one was my first and was what got me hooked.

(And of course, I always recommend it because everyone needs to know the glory that is Space Knight. )
