okaaay so...Microsoft is ending support for XP, so i'm in the process of transfering my online life to a new hard drive, which has been upgraded to Windows 7 and IE9. i've got it mostly to a point where i can live with it, except for one blasted thing!

all the images i view are squashed annoyingly. like my art online, and in my pictures folder? they are squished up and down. width wise they're fine, but the frigging height...and i've tried changing the screen resolution to every setting, it doesn't help. my drivers are all up to date...i dunno what it is!...help, please?T_T i can't draw if the images are squished...especially cause then they'll look squished on other peoples computers.

EDIT: i took a screenshot on the computer of the squished image..transfered it to this computer, and it looks fine!T_T it must be a setting that's messed up...but i dunno what!

someone help...please?

Is your monitor a 16:9 1080p?

i...ahm...don't know... i did a minor search and i think my screen is 15.4

i'm thinking maxis is right, it is the aspect...but i can't find anything to change it! and i don't know if switching the hard drive to my regular laptop will change anything...

You need to change the resolution of your monitor until the picture looks the way you want it. That's what I would do. Unless your monitor is a 16:9, do not use 1280x720, or 1920x1080 You need a resolution in which the width is in multiples of 15 and the height is multiples of 4. This may require some math, but I'll let you know if an option comes up.

Try changing to this resolution: 1440x900
15.4 is the diagonal display size, your monitor aspect ratio is therefore a 16:10 resolution.

but whenever i change the resolution, it doesn't do anything except fuzz details. it doesn't make the pictures look any better. and the highest resolution i have is 1400 x 1050...does the graphics card make a difference? because this is what i see for each hard drive on my current(xp) and the 7 harddrive.

VGA? Hold up, I know what the problem is. Use DVI graphics or HDMI, if you don't have those get an Nvidia graphics card, if you can't upgrade the GPU any further, you need to upgrade to a custom-built rig.

so if i transfer my hard drive from the computer with the VGA to the computer with the Radeon, it should fix it?

I'm saying your windows 7 build does not support high resolutions because you don't have a decent Graphics card in it. You need to phase out of VGA Graphics. So, don't do what you said. In short, I cannot solve your problem any further, unless you invest in a custom built Desktop like I did. I suggest backing up your images.

Now unless you have an auto adjust button on you monitor, that may be the problem.

o.o...but what about my XP laptop? it doesn't have a good enough graphic card?
