Advanced Character Profile Character Name: Endymion ShieldsGender: MaleAge and Date of Birth: August 3; 17 Used Canons:Sailor Moon (manga) Appearance: | Endymion can be an imposing figure as he towers over most of the high school crowd, his gaze forward and unfocused, his complexion flawless, his countenance one that breaks hearts at first glance with its casual perfection; he walks tall and proud, seeming confident in whatever he does, every step he takes is a step taken with purpose, and every glance made with those deep blue eyes conveying the impressive intelligence of the soul that lies within. Combine this with his usual neat-cut attire, and "intimidating" may well be the best adjective for the beautiful young man, but "hunky" and "gorgeous" aren't far to follow. At Rosethorn High, he (and his friends) were regular, if unknowing, heart-breakers.
However, his "hard" looks and critical gazes are reserved only for when he is paying attention - in class or in deep conversation - or is preoccupied thinking of other things, or suspects the worst of a classmate or professional at the school. For those Mamoru knows and trusts, his impassive walls come down, and that stoic face can be quite expressive -quirking brows, dashing or embarrassed smiles, tender glances, and open, welcoming looks of unabashed trust. He smiles easy - promise! - just... wait til the problem is solved and done. | Endymion's typical attire is layered tops - usually a dark tee-shirt (with the Rosethorn logo, ever since they changed schools) with a lighter, unbuttoned shirt rolled up at the sleeves over it, else the reverse color combination, paired with blue or black jeans. He'll occasionally wear a baseball cap or his Rosethorn letterman's jacket (for soccer) when it's colder outside.- Reference images:
Personality: Known for his kind nature and calm but remarkably driven determination, Endymion's dependability is a feature upon which many people rely, including his friends, soccer team, and the entirety of Rosethorn High when they elected him Student Council President. Naturally responsible and independent, Endymion is able to take care of his own needs and able to take on the needs of others if necessary, and is resourceful and adaptable in problem solving, having a high intelligence with a knack for logical thinking. He is patient, both with himself, with the task at hand, and with others, understanding that everyone needs to take their time when making decisions or learning something new. He can keep a secret - he often keeps his own thoughts and feelings a secret - and is trustworthy, though not many have tested him on it.He is susceptible to brooding, as he took on a lot of responsibility and pressures himself to live up to what is expected of him to make both himself and his parents proud. He is loyal - almost to a fault - and will stand up for what he believes in, regardless of who may stand against him.
In order to live up to his own ideals of being a calm, confident and reliable person, he may often try to hide or suppress his feelings to seem stronger or more dependable, and so can be somewhat withdrawn and inhibited with his emotions. Additional words to describe his personality are as follows:
- Calm, level headed, firm, reliable, trustworthy, hard-headed; organized, makes and keeps plans, responsible, reliable,
- Independent, patient, confident, resourceful, adaptable, courageous, intelligent
- Stubborn, Seems unemotional, aloof, and withdrawn, Inhibited, Secretly a little vain, can be pretentious; takes criticisms to heart
Mannerisms: Endymion has excellent manners; he's articulate and respectful, and often reaches out to people who are in need without expecting anything in return. He has a kind and generous nature. When problems arise, he is direct with solving them, his scientific mindset helping him find the root of the problem... unless it has to do with emotions - especially those of jealousy. Endymion strives to be sincere in everything he does. Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Knows a little karate; is a varsity Soccer player History: - Quote :
- Endymion is your typical smart and friendly guy, always willing to lend a hand and help out where he can. He was voted Class President of Rosethorn during his sophomore year, and, being the first sophomore to ever hold the title, he worked hard to earn it and his classmates' respect. When the school looked like it was in trouble and would need repairs, Endymion organized fund raising events for the school, uniting clubs together to earn some money to save their school. While they could ultimately not raise enough funds to have the school repaired over the summer of his Junior-Senior (the principal had told Endymion), their efforts were very successful and raised quite a bit of money from the community.
Moving to the new school, they were allowed to keep the surplus of what they had earned in the Student Council budget, to be used to celebrate the hard year last year with some well-earned fun. Dances, student fairs, food festivals, and a school field trip were ideas that were being thrown around before the move to the new school, but now that the two schools were together, Endymion wondered if their money could be spent the way they had intended. His student council, and his classmates, assured him, without precedence, that they would vote him back into Student Council no matter what. He just hoped he wouldn’t let them down once he got in there.
As a student, Endymion’s favorite class is Advanced Placement physics – he likes the marriage of philosophy with math, and enjoys solving the puzzles and putting equations to work, and can often look deeper into the workings of the world around him through physics. He has to pay close attention in math, enjoys literature, but is absolutely terrible at history. He can remember the stories, just not the names and dates, and has to work hardest in that class to keep up his good grades. His past elective classes have been computer science, speech and debate, but this year he is taking theater, as suggested by the school counselor. He spends his spare time in the Student Council room and Study Hall, working on projects and homework.
Endymion plays Soccer, but during his free time in the off season he splits his free time between hanging out with his friends and working in the community. His adoptive parents are really active with volunteering, and he’ll often help them with their current projects, from homes for the homeless to soup kitchen services. Endymion’s birthparents died on his sixth birthday and he can’t remember anything about them, but his adoptive parents took him in when he was six, fostering him, and finally adopted him. They are a younger couple, very much still in love, and he is their only child - for now. They are honest and open with him about pretty much everything, and lately have been considering growing their family by having a baby; Endymion thinks it's a great idea.
Stresses in Endymion’s life primarily revolve around school. He needs to keep his grades up to earn scholarships for college – he wants a full scholarship, so he’s not burdening his parents with the added expenditure of his continued education. He’s starting to think about college, and applying for college, and that’s always confusing and stressful, especially the choices of school and majors. He enjoys Student Council and finds it very rewarding, but the pressure can add some stress to him in particularly active seasons, and soccer can occasionally add some more undue stress, as practice after school occasionally puts a time crunch on his other activities. His stress relievers are his friends, playing soccer for fun, and relaxing outdoors. He always feels a little calmer and more collected when he’s outdoors. Other Noteworthy Facts: has his eye on Ivy League schools to become a doctor.- Relationships:
Kunzite: Endymion and Kunzite met when they were in Kindergarten and have always been close. Zoisite: In grade school, Zoisite was being bullied for being smarter than other kids, and Endymion stepped in to defend him. Zoisite was welcomed into Endymion and Kunzite’s little gang. Jadeite: Endymion met Jadeite in middle school. Jadeite, a new kid, had been rumored to be a bully, and as he constantly looked pissed off at the world many were inclined to believe the rumor. Endymion, however, noticed that Jadeite didn’t act very much like a bully; rather, he looked more like a lonely new kid. Endymion befriended him and they’ve been fast friends ever since. Nephrite: Nephrite started out as Endymion’s rival in (sport), but when a tough game was ahead of them, the two got over their mutual bristliness and had to band together to secure a victory for their school. Once they were over that initial hurdle, they realized that they had a lot in common, and Nephrite became part of their group. Beryl: Endymion and Beryl have met on several occasions – at Rosethorn, she became very active in student government and had run to be vice president. She was fiery and always seemed to back him up, defending his less-than-popular opinions to the student body (working on weekends?!) adamantly. While they have worked together, Endymion began to see Beryl as a friend rather than an acquaintance, but he feels nothing towards her, romantically. She often sits near him in classes they share and help each other with assignments.
Storyline Specific Information: Endymion is starting out his Senior year in a brand new high school – the Verona Institute. While he loved Rosethorn, his old school, and had believed it to be his alma mater, he agreed with the people in charge that it desperately needed to be closed for repairs (definitely not demolished, as others had suggested!) and so entered the brand new, state-of-the-art high school without much of a grudge towards the place. He enjoyed everything that the new building could offer – the facilities were top notch, from science labs to reading lounges, the cafeteria to the study hall, computer labs and library, and the space and facilities for electives and extracurricular activities were mind boggling. It seemed like it would be a great and exciting year, and he looked forward to learning with his classmates again. However, there was a bit of a catch.Rosethorn wasn’t the only student body to populate this new building. The Silver Academy, a rival school, was also closing down, and former sports, academic, and extracurricular adversaries would soon be joining them in the hallways.RP Sample: - from Love and Spite wrote:
- Endymion turned the shower off and reached through the curtain to find a towel, careful not to drip too much on the tile floor in the process. He dried off while standing in the tub, then stepped out onto the fluffy blue bathmat, wrapped the towel around his waist, and grabbed a smaller towel to quickly dry his hair. Within moments he was nearly completely dry, and used the second towel to carefully wipe clean the steamed mirror. Then he stood, his hands resting on the counter-top, and looked himself in the eye, reminding himself of everything they had worked for last year, every hardship, every battle they had won. He thought of the clubs, the faculty, the fundraisers and the sacrifices of the previous year, and of how all that had ultimately failed in its original cause. Rosethorn was closed, and this year they would not be roaming its familiar hallways with its familiar faces. Today, Rosethorn students would be populating a new school, an Institute, and he owed it to them to make this the best year he possibly could to show them their hard work last year did not go unappreciated.
He needed to get back in office. He needed to make sure the funds they had raised were used properly, and his student body was properly represented and duly rewarded for everything they had given up the year before. He kept his own gaze - he could not fail in this. He could not let them down, no matter the obstacles he faced. He owed them that. He would put everything he had towards becoming School President again, and making sure the right thing was done by them. Even if he had to concoct a way to be seen and heard around the Silver Academy's old leadership and what had to be the huge financial backing they had at their beck and call. He felt his own hesitation and pushed past it. He would do more than his best. He would give it his all, and he would retake office for them.
Mental peptalk complete, he looked away from his reflection and opened the door to return to his room and dress for the day. Ultimately he chose a casual pair of jeans and an old favorite - his dark red Rosethorn school shirt, the rose symbol emblazoned in black tee-shirt print. He hesitated a moment before slipping it on over his head, wondering if it would be in poor taste to remind others of the past when they were on the first day of their future, but quickly shook it off. He was overdramatizing everything. He threw on a black collared shirt overtop and rolled up the sleeves to his elbows, ran a brush through his hair, slipped on his sneakers and called it good enough.
He had a pleasant conversation with his mother over breakfast; while she was yawning she was nonetheless determined to send him off on his first day of school with a balanced breakfast. They spoke of how cool the new school was, how exciting it was to be at the school its first year, how he and his friends and the other seniors at the school would really set the tone for the year and the school's future, and how good they could be for it. As the clocked ticked towards the time he had to go, she checked twice that he had his schedule printed and his student planner with him, that he had a supply of composition notebooks, spirals, and at least one binder with loose-leaf paper, and a combination lock in case there weren't locks already built into their lockers. Endymion took all of this with a smile and a shared look with his father as he entered the room, listened for a moment, and subtly shook his head with a bit of an eye roll, which his mother answered with a soft punch on his arm without breaking eye contact with Endymion.
When it was time, he wished them a good day, packed his shoulder-bag, and waved as he left the house. RP Tags (Images sourced via click!) - Artifact of old profile list/deal for Mean Girls:

When different years/classes needed money for a dance, student fairs, food festivals, and field trips, Endymion organizeed fund raising events as best he could, and oftentimes tries to unite the clubs together to work smarter and for everyone's benefit, despite their apparent need to separate into cliques and draw firm boundaries between "their kind" and the rest of the school. All he really wants is for people to get along, to coexist within the school without the politics or the bullying, but all of his efforts never seem to stick!
Sometimes he gets the feeling that he was only voted into his position based on his general likability or, worse, his looks! It's like they don't want to see the change he promised to work towards in his campaigning!
Really though, now he's nearing the end of his rope. It's his senior year, and he feels the only difference he's made is in getting projects started and finished, not in actual lives, and he's starting to feel a little depressed about it.

RP Sample:Endymion glanced down at his watch again, hurrying as quickly as he could down the crowded hallway, the final bell for the day having rung only moments before. He was late, and as the person who had called this meeting, he wasn’t exactly thrilled. Seeing a small break in the current, he sidestepped into an opening and slid down a connecting corridor, his impressive height giving him advantage over the shorter students. 20 meters against the flow and he would be in the Student Council chambers. 10 meters. 5 meters. His hand was on the door – “ Endymion!” a familiar voice called, and with a grimace to the wall he took a deep breath, put a resigned smile on his face, and turned to face the speaker.
