Random FAQs

Programs I use: Adobe Illustrator CS5, Adobe Photoshop CS5, Easy Paintool SAI, Corel Paint 12
Tools Used: Pencil (for sketching as I still sketch on paper) and Wacom Introus 4 Small
What mediums do you use: Digital, Watercolors and Paints, Charcol, Oils
Why don't you use more traditional mediums: Sometime after college, I developed a "shake" in my hands to where I can no longer outline my works. If I do, the lines look very wobby and very unprofessional for my skills. Stating this, I no longer use copics or color pencils to draw if the process includes me to actually line the artwork.

Sailor Moon Related Artwork





NEW - This image is of Sailor Silenced during the Animamate round. In this round, we had to basically create an Animamate version of our senshi and I came up with this. Silence's Animamate name is Sailor Lithium Wolf.



Info: This was for a deviantart competition for a good friend of mine, Elila. She knows I have this love of throwing our characters together in images and this contest was no exception. The theme of this contest was "Winter to Spring". The Lady of Saturn is featured in this piece (my character) as well as Elila's Moonline Character, Xantara.



Info: This was another deviantart contest for AngelRaye. She wanted a Christmas theme image featuring her characters and I decided to do her Pluto generation.



Info: I did a series of special chibi commissions and this was commissioned by a deviantart
member with her Sailor Moon OC. This one is Elysia.




Info: This piece features my Sailor Silence in the "Redesign Fuku" round of Otaku Senshi Idol (OSI). Basically, we had to create a new fuku for our characters that was in the contest and I designed my fuku based off the Assassin's Creed game.




Info: This piece features Maaya (Sailor Silence), Chibiusa and Hotaru. In this piece, I wanted to create a theme based on Maaya's hobby, scrapbooking but yet make it look as if it was apart of a manga page. This was another piece for OSI.




Info: This piece features Sailor Silence in the Pin-up Round of OSI. This is still one of my favorite pieces regardless of the issues with it because I love the pose for Silence and it gave me an excuse to draw and color a car! ^^




Info: This piece features my evil version of Sailor Silence, Sailor Anubis and Eternal Sailor Saturn. This was for the Dark Senshi Round of OSI and I decided to use an old redesign of Silence and have a dynamic attack scene with twin sister vs. twin sister.

Info: A price for a deviantart member where she wanted her Sailor Zodiac Cancer turned into a chibi.




Info: Genderbender Round of OSI. Basically, I had to turn Sailor Silence into a man and this was one of my most challenging round as I'm not particularly good with male anatomy. Anyways, I wanted to give a "poster" feel for my piece.




Info: As many otaku senshi creator probably have, I have my own version of Sailor Sun. In the Sailor Moon Universe though, she only makes an appearance twice; During the time of the Silver Millennium as she was close friends with Queen Serenity and in Crystal Tokyo during the reign of Neo Queen Lady Serenity.




Info: Stole Elila's characters again, but this time I stole my favorite character of hers - Sailor Eclipse Moon. I put her character and my Sailor Silence together in an image for her birthday. This also has an old version of Sailor Silence's chakram.




Info: Maaya and Chibiusa having fun at the beach (although, Maaya hates beaches). The Japanese text loosely reads, "Beware of Chibiusa".




Info: The Maenads who had sooooo little time in the manga and no time in the anime. They're upset.

Info: These characters belong to a deviantart member, sailordarkness, who commissioned me to chibify her original character, Magera. I kinda went overboard on the expression but I LOVE doing that to chibis. ^^




Info: This was a prize for a deviantart member for a contest that I ran. She wanted to have her original character chibified in a cute way.




Info: Another commissioned piece for deviantart user, Elila. She wanted me to draw her Era Pyralis.

This artwork is amazing, Paprika~! I love your drawings of both your OCs and Elilia's (I follow her on DA, even if I'm not active there myself). And it's not often you see a chakram as an OC senshi's weapon - props to you. ^^

Yay, you did end up posting a topic! Is was wonderful to see such variety in your works from the chibis to the full-sized senshi, from the almost vector-like images to the line-art. I also think it's inspiring how you overcame the shake in your hand and still continue with art.

Thank you! Actually of my WIPs, its one of the ones I'm excited to start working on. I will definitely post more as I finish/have interesting WIPS to show ^^. I just got my computer back so I hope to start working on my stuff again this weekend - my computer had been sent back to the manufacturer to be fixed -_-;

Thank you, Pluto! ^^ Yeah, I wanted to use a weapon that wasn't used quite as often and make a feminine/soft design for it. Thanks again ^^

Thanks Reiko! I love drawing chibis/regular form bodies and use soft shading and cel-shading techniques when it comes to drawing. I am currently trying to discover a new way of soft shading though which can often be trail and error.

Thank you Dybbuk! ^^ One of my favorite things is to create new outfits for senshi designs - I have a little too much fun with it ^^;

Oh wow!! I love the bright colors here!! And your drawing style is so simple but so cute! I like the Sailor Silence design's too!! I'm into all clothing design -things so I really like that one!

Since I'm without my main computer still and only have my netbook, I cannot run Photoshop, SAI, or Illustrator otherwise it would be the death of my notebook. So I have been doing a lot of sketching and came up with this - a new WIP piece!:




This piece is a representation of my OC senshi showcasing both Maaya Fu and Sailor Silence. I wanted to show the differences between the two and I think I obtained that. Silence is somewhat cold and a "No Non-sense" type of a personality where as Maaya has a "carefree/mature" personality. I decided to do a half face/bust view of both to portray this more.

Also don't mind the middle crease. The paper use to be 11x14 (inches), which created too much dead space between the two so I decided to "size" it down. lol! Yay for fifteen minute sketches!!! *happy dance*

And mechanical pencils are my weapon of choice! Muhahahaha!!

I loved your clean lines, specially on your WIP drawings - don't get me wrong, I loooooove digital art, i'm about to give my first steps on it, but I love traditional art and all this stuff! <3

@Naty: Thank you, Naty. Actually one of the reasons why I still sketch traditionally is because I really don't feel like I'm drawing unless I'm sketching using a pencil/pen and paper. I could probably do sketching using my wacom but I have tried and doesn't feel the same to me ^^

Yeah - that''ll happen to me at times when I try to use odd body poses with perspective - lol ^^ As for the head, I have already changed that to where it's bigger now.

The transparent background is on purpose as thjs image is going to be featured as a background for a video. Whenever I get to the soft shaded one, I will definitely add a background. So here's Maaya and Sailor Silence ^^

New sketch up!



This image is based off of the 50 minute ova Black Rock Shooter. This is also one of the categories I had set myself up to draw/sketch out at least before the new anime came out. I couldn't really find any inspiration until I watched the trailer for the PSP game and even though the story is completely different, I ended up sketching this image of Mato Kuroi (closes to the star) and Black Rock Shooter.

Still haven't decided if BRS is going to be nude or not but I have decided that Mato will be. So this will not be up on Deviantart come time for me to upload my artwork ^^

The background reminds me of CCS Sakura's second wand, hehe. But the character is pretty, XD. What's the OVA about?
