I usually don't reach out for help in these situations, but it's gotten to the point where it's needed.

I'm sure we're all aware of the mass uprising of bootleg Sailor Moon DVDs lately, mainly due to the official releases being out of print. Normally, when I see these bootlegs on eBay, I try to ignore them since the sellers are normally only selling them once. But I recently found a user whom I suspect is mass producing these bootlegs and profiting greatly from it.

For the past month now, I've seen this user make dozens of listings for his "SAILOR MOON Complete TV SERIES" DVDs.



Even though you can probably tell these are bootlegs, allow me to point out the obvious errors:
- Season 1 was never released onto DVD as a box set in North America, Eternal Sailor Moon was not featured in Season 1.
- Season 2 was never released onto DVD as a box set in North America, Super Sailor Moon was not featured in Season 2.
- Season 3 was released onto DVD as a box set but it isn't the one featured in the picture, artwork comes from a Season 4 volume.
- Season 4 was released onto DVD as a box set but it isn't the one featured in the picture.
- Season 5 was never released in North America.
- The movies was released onto DVD as a box set, but it isn't the one featured in the picture.

The worst part is, I've seen his listings go up as high as $100, even $200. And every time one listing has been sold, another one is put up immediately after. The bidding usually goes on for 10 days, and with 4 listings going on at once, this seller could easily be making around $1,200-$1,800 a month.

This just makes me sick that this seller is taking advantage of the fact that officially released DVDs are now out of print and hard to come by and selling his own copies of the episodes and movies and profiting from it.

I want to stop this seller, but I'll need help. If you want to help, here's what to do:

1) Go to his page and report any listings that are for these DVDs. (Here's a link to his latest listing: http://ocs.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ReportItemMember&items=191127402064&seller=bellsales82&active=1&state=1)

2) Select the following:
Report Category: Copyright and trademark
Reason for Report: Counterfeit item or authenticity disclaimer
Detailed Reason: Counterfeit, fake, or replica items

Click continue.

3) Write a brief description. Since there's a 100 character limit, here's what I wrote:
"These DVDs are bootlegs and not the officially licensed DVDs for Sailor Moon. Please take it down."

Send report.

Thank you for taking the time to help and hopefully, we can have eBay stop this loser from illegally profiting from Sailor Moon.

i did the report. i hate bootlegs!! and the fact they are making so much money off this...grrr!

I hate bootleggers, but sadly I report and report, but nothing ever gets taken down. I mentioned it to ebay once and they said that to take it down, the person with the copyright has to file a claim. Like if a dress is fake, the designer has to file a report or they "cannot" HA will not do anything about it.

Just thought I should give an update on this bootlegger. Probably because of Viz Media's recent acquisition of the series, bellsales82 has no more listings on his eBay account. His last rating was July 22nd, but from the looks of it, this seller has packed up shop for good. Good riddance!

Hmm, what about those Animage "Diamond" version DVDs? Can anyone confirm that these are bootlegs also?
