Hello everyone!

I'm Kyralih, a screen name created by spelling my first name and last initial backwards. The secret: you now has it.

I'm a 23 year-old ---- who just spent the last seven minutes trying to find the original "My name's Serena..... blahblah.... Champion of love and justice, Sailor Moon!" from the dubbed episodes so I could make a foil of it for my own introduction to see if anyone caught it. Having given up, I still think it was a neat idea so I threw the idea in here for good measure ---- college student, graduating this December with a bachelors in Physics with concentrations in Astronomy and teaching. In the future, after teaching high school physics for a few years (as the country desperately needs physics teachers - this is like my army time xD) I hope to be the director of a planetarium (as I enjoy talking about space, the stars and the planets, I think this profession a wise decision) or a creator of planetarium shows. That's pretty much one way that Sailor Moon influenced my life - it was that the scouts were named after planets that got me into astronomy in the first place (I stayed for the pretty colors).

I started watching Sailor Moon when I was really little -- I want to say five, but it could have honestly been 6 or 7. Major discrepancy, I know. From the beginning, Sailor Moon was my hero and my role model, and it was she (well, Naoko Takeuchi I guess) who inspired much of the personality I have today. Growing up I shared a room with my little sister and our Sailor Moon Adventure Dolls suffered hours and hours of play, especially after 'bedtime' and on weekends. o_o anyway... I discovered the manga when I was a teenager and fell deeper in love because, though the animated series was a guilty pleasure for my teenage self, the manga was deeper and offered themes a little more mature. I met one of my best friends though Sailor Moon - my little sister had enlisted my help in turning this friend of hers into a 'Moonie,' and I grudgingly agreed. Once it was over, the girl I had despised became one of my best friends and has remained one to this day.

I got into Sailor Moon fanfiction way back when AOL was the bees knees - we're talking 1998 or 2000 - and read a few of them on sailorjupiter.com (HOLY CRAPOLA - THEY'RE STILL AROUND?!); however, I found I just couldn't stand non-canon pairings and stopped reading all fanfiction for a long time.

Earlier this summer, I joined a chat site called 'tinierme' and jumped into their Sailor Moon group, wherein I bashed down forums that screamed that Sailor Uranus was actually a man, Sailor Chibi Chibi is Serenity's second daughter, and Sailor Galaxia was actually Sailor Sun (to name a few); I hammered out confusion over the Cosmos/Galaxia/ChibiChibi issues, briefly described the manga version of the stars arc in 1000 words or less, and... well, ultimately, it made me more active in my obsession with Sailor Moon.
On there, I was invited to join a roleplaying group for Sailor Moon, so I did - the problem was that they weren't canon. ... it was/is a Usagi/Seiya and Minako/Mamoru pairing, which took me ABSOLUTELY FOREVER to get over (what helped is that I unraveled how the future would work itself out for their group, as far as Crystal Tokyo and Chibi Moon were concerned).

Why am I writing all this? o_o .... oh yeah! Okay, so while on there I was inspired to write my own fanfic (ha! see how I brought that boring tidbit in?) and I searched google for pictures from the Silver Millenium and came across Galaxy Cauldron and one of your theories/debate boards and found someone who thought just like I did on many subjects xD

p.s.: I have a roleplay idea for the new section but, being a student teacher this semester, I doubt I'll have enough free time to be a moderator of the boards.

AOL was the bees knees in 1998-2000? Wasn't that last year? AOL was popular in the 80s. I'm sure of it.

Congratulations on being a student teacher. I did that a few years ago, but I live in California so they laid me off as soon as the economy tanked. Boo. You going into elementary or single-subject? I mostly did middle school math; now I sub.

I'll be certified as both high school math and physics, but with my license I can teach 7th and 8th grade science too.

It's fantastic that you've stayed with the fandom for so long, too. Are you planning on buying the manga reprint this year? It sounds like you've had plenty of experience with the canon material, too, judging from what you've said about your history.

And it'd be great to read your fanfiction when you write it. Our writing board needs a little love, hehe. (A shame about being too busy for the RP board, though ... Sounds like it'd be a very enjoyable experience to have you along with us.)

Hmm... I might post what I have so far of this one fic. ... it hasn't gone anywhere yet, but I'm one of those people who get a writing idea, start it and have issues with finishing it unless people prod me on. ... ^^'

Well, the current fanfic is Silver Millenium era, told from Endymion's p.o.v.

the super-mega-huge opener to my roleplay idea is Crystal Tokyo, hundreds of years after Serenity and Endymion take the throne.

I give lectures on astronomy ^^ I'm so excited - next Wednesday I'm having Space Day in the 8th grade science class I'm currently student teaching and I've got oodles and oodles of galaxy, nebula, comet and planet pictures, tons of moon and earth scapes, and a whole section on the autumnal equinox XD

In the roleplay idea that takes place in Crystal Tokyo, I created 4 original characters, all of whom are playable by other people. ^^ They're kind of introduced as almost shells that the roleplayers fill and round out to their whims.

Your reference to AOL makes me feel old. Back in the age of dial-up modems and all-nighters in chatrooms. I don't particularly miss those days, but they invariably devoured countless hours. Glad to know someone else fell into the black hole of AOL.

The internet was actually created in the mid 1960s, but mostlt the government and a few universities were implementing it as a way of networking. It wasn't until the mid 90s when it became more commercially available and more user friendly.

AOL itself was created in 1983 as mainly an online service for the Atari 2600. In 1989 is was released for Macintosh and in 1992 it was released for DOS, for only a couple of years later to be released for Windows 2.0 and 3.0. It didn't really pick up in popularity i think until the mid90s-2000.
