| Hi, I'm Alexandra, Please Call me Lexi. I have never posted on a forum before so correct me please if I do anything wrong. I've watched sailor moon since it was on toonami in 1999. I have a new found love for the Japanese version of the anime and I hope to read the manga someday. I excited to interact with other moonies and not be "ashamed" that I am one. :!: |

| Hello, Lexi, and welcome to the Cauldron. ^^
I'm sure you'll find yourself at home here with the rest of us moonies, and no worries about it being your first forum experience - from what I can see so far, this is a very friendly environment.
I'm pretty sure you can find the Sailor Moon manga (a Tokyo Pop translation) on MangaFox if you don't mind some chapters being out of order. You can even read the Sailor V prequel there. ^^ |

| Hey, Lexi! Welcome aboard!
If you want to read the manga, you can use MangaFox as SeleneHime suggested or Miss Dream, a wonderful fan translation of the entire manga. Of course, you can always wait until this September when they commence the release of new official English translations!
If you have any other inquiries, don't hesitate to ask. |

| Does anyone know what the differences between the old and new (translations) of the manga? are they still changing Haruka and Michiru's relationship...stuff like that? |

If I recall correctly, TokyoPop (the old official translation) did not remove the relationship between Haruka and Michiru like the dub of the anime did. The TokyoPop translation followed the naming conventions of the dub (e.g. Usagi is Serena; Ami is Amy; Makoto is Lita) but that's about it. Otherwise, it was fairly faithful to the original material. Most fan translations now attempt to retain a high degree of the original material, including the names, social references, and the like. The only major differences would be in the choice of how the material is translated exactly, or what words or phrases are appropriate. My impression is that the new official translation will be rather faithful to the series. Only time will tell. |

| Welcome!
I've been re-reading the manga myself lately. I'm on volume three! In fact, I'm posting copies of the manga optimized for ereaders on my blog on Monday. I really want to get the re-print copies! I only have a few volumes of the original US release. |

My impression is that the new official translation will be rather faithful to the series. Only time will tell. Actually Usagi was literally translated as Bunny. ^^; All names were changed except for the Outers, since those seasons hadn't been released in the US at the time of the original manga release. So they kept Setsuna, haruka, and michiru if i remember correctly. The major thing was some bad translation, low quality of the books, and they flipped them to read right to left instead of left to right (which at the time wasn't a major practice over here anyway, so what do you expect?). One other thing on the rerelease is that they are translating the Japan rerelease that happened in 2003. The manga was condensed from 18 volumes to 12 volumes (not material was taken out though) and Naoko went in and fixed some of the artwork that she wasn't pleased with, plus new covers. Besides that, nothing should change as far as plot and material and story and things. ANYWAY. Welcome to the forum! I see you've already settled in nicely here. |

| Wellcome, I'm new too. I've read the manga for the first time a few months ago. I've read it in a couple of days because it was so addictive I couldn't stop. I must say the manga is simply amazing, you have to read it. |

| It has been announced that all the characters will be keeping their original Japanese names, which is quite exciting. Hopefully they will include the Japanese honorifics, such as -san, -chan, etc. I believe that they will be. Other than that, I would just be restating what was already commented on above. ^^ |
