Does anyone here think that perhaps that Usagi's disguise pen was initially intended to be her henshin item?

I mean it really makes no sense in retrospect for her to say "Moon Prism Power" and not be the Princess of the Moon.

I mean really, wasn't that just a bit obvious?

Wouldn't it have made more sense had she used the disguise pen and transformed by saying "Sailor Prism Power, Make Up!"?

It would have probably been more dramatic to have her brooch be revealed much later on in the series, after she gained the silver crystal (Perhaps her hair clips would have been a part of her fuku thereafter as well as the moon earrings and such?).

Hard to say about the pen part. We don't see either much in her earlier drawings and I haven't seen all the early designs and notes from the artbooks. Maybe there is something?

I hadn't thought about it that way.  Maybe Naoko had some ideas for it but then discarded them.  


Now that I am thinking about it...Usagi stops using it early in the manga. When was the last time she used it?  Is it after she finds Sailor Jupiter?

I believe she used it to transform into a Mugen Academy student and infiltrated it. If I remember correctly anyway.

Wasn't that Venus?  I'm going to have to look it up.  Now I'm curious.

It was indeed Usagi and that was the last time the pen was used in the manga. I only remember cause she was super cute and everyone was all -_- when she did it haha. I think the use of the disguise pen was a remnant from the Sailor V manga cause she had the same ability to disguise herself as well.
