If you're a Dragonball fan and have been keeping up with Super, you may have been feeling a bit down about the announcement that Super was ending in March, wrapping up it's Tournament of Power arc with no confirmation of any continuation what so ever.  But fans, don't despair! This week Toei and Akira Toriyama made the announcement of the 20th movie, which is set to be released December 14th.


Staff announcements have been made. You can read more about them on Anime News Network's article. Akira Toriyama is working closely with the film, writing it's script. He commented that the story will take place after the current events in Super and will go into some details about the Saiyan race and Freiza.

Have you been watching Super? Excited about the new movie? I'm not like super giddy over the moon like I'm sure a lot of fans but I am very glad to see that Super isn't ending, especially since it was finally starting to pick up the pace and get good!  The last two movies have been excellent as far as Dragonball films go, so I'm looking forward to this one.

I was so happy when I heard about this movie! I'm so lazy and I need to catch up! I'm up to episode 125 I think 

As long as is NOT similar whit the disaster of Battle of Gods i'm ok with it.

Whoa whoa whoa. Battle of Gods was great. I dunno what you're talking about. XD XD i'm being facetious, its ok to dislike it but i'll just strongly disagree Especially considering it was the first new animated thing we had Dragonball related since that Japanese released only Shonen Jump special (the one with Vegeta's brother).

It opened up a whole new avenue for Super to use and explore (and oh it sure did explore them). My only complaints stem to Super just retelling both Battle of Gods and Resurrection F as their own arcs. As much as I enjoyed Ressurection F, I miiiight have to go on a limb and say Battle of Gods was the slightly better movie? Just cause of how fanservicy it feels having Frieza brought back. Also Battle of Gods introduced two new fav characters: Beerus and Whis. Whis being my personal fav of the two. XD

But honestly I kinda liked how Frieza was and is currently being handled so it doesn't bother me too much. xD

Battle of the Gods = Battle of the Words. They talked to much xD and that was my problem, also why, WHY did they do that to Veggeta (the way he was portrayed is so not him, I mean he was a badass on DBZ, this whole new personality just...so not him Idk :/ is hilarious but off xD). Also I agree that bring back Frieza was unnecessary, it's not a "beloved" character so i was like "wth" xD.

Whis is just amazing, period. Such an adorable dork <3.

Hmm seeing Vegeta now is just seeing his growth in character. He is not the same person he was in DBZ. He still very much kicks ass, if you keep watching Super.  But in Super, you'll see that while he still retains a lot of the same qualities, he's become more aware and caring of his family and wants to protect them and the rest of the Earth. I've really enjoyed all of the Vegeta focused filler and growth in Super, which started with the movies. Characters shouldn't stay static. I really like his growth. Vegeta in Battle of Gods was probably my favorite. XD

Edit: I think you misunderestiamte Frieza's popularity. XD Also when Toriyama decided to bring back Frieza, he said he had been inspired by Maximum the Horomone's song "F" which is about Frieza. They ended up using it in the Resurrection of F movie too. xD



And on that note about Toriyama, he has a huge hand in Super. Instead of working on the manga, they got another artist to work on the Super manga so Toriyama could dedicate time into the animated series. It really shows with some of the filler based episodes. xD
