Advanced Character Profile
Character Name: Dazai Osamu
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Universe: Bungo Stray Dogs
Canon or Original: Canon
Appearance: Dazai is a tall man, around 6 foot, with a slim physique. He has dark brown eyes and hair, the latter of which is slightly wavy, and cut short, with bangs framing his face.
In terms of attire, Dazai is most often seen in khakis, brown dress shoes, a long beige trench coat, which he leaves the belt of untied, a light blue striped dress shirt, with a black vest over it. On top of that, he wears a tie, held in place by a turquoise pendant. The final piece of his attire, and perhaps most noticeable, is the bandages covering his arms, chest, neck, and presumably legs, leaving only his hands, face, and feet visible.
Personality: Dazai is an enigma, no-one ever truly knows what he is thinking. On the top, his so-called "outer facade", he is flamboyant, often comically over-exaggerating situations and acting somewhat care-free. He tends to seem lazy, passing work off on others and being generally unproductive as much as possible. He enjoys teasing his co-workers (particularly Kunikida), and plays almost everything he does and says off as just a joke or a lie.
Beyond this outer facade, Dazai is a very calm, confident, and sharp-witted individual. He is extremely intelligent, able to come up with elaborate plans in short amounts of time and execute them near flawlessly, something he rarely,if ever, takes credit for. He is not above using dirty tactics, especially when it comes to protecting the Agency or Yokohama.
Going even deeper still, Dazai is ruthless, methodical, and cunning. Although this portion of his personality is not seen as much in the present, it is still most definitely there, and appears in brief flashes, such as when he stated to a distraught Kyouka that "A mere 35 people" was not many, when he had killed hundreds, or when he threatened to kill Q, asking if Chuya would stop him.
The one thing Dazai desires above all else, is "freedom from this oxidizing world". He joined the Port Mafia in hope that he would find a reason to live, claiming that when exposed to violence one can brush against humanity's true nature. He still retains his wish, even after leaving the Mafia, but in a more comical manner.
Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Dazai has an ability named
"No Longer Human", which he describes as an anti-ability. Upon contact with another ability user, his ability will nullify theirs. Aside from that he is fairly skilled in hand-to-hand combat, is adept at picking locks, and is able to survive pretty much anything.
History: Dazai's youngest known history is 14 years old, when he was taken as a patient to Mori Ougai, doctor for the Port Mafia, for having attempted suicide. That night, he witnessed the death of the Port Mafia boss, by Mori's hand, and was sworn to secrecy, being given the cover story that the boss had died of illness, and that Mori was to succeed him, as per the old boss's wishes.
Over the following year, Dazai stayed under Mori's care, not yet as an official part of the Port Mafia. He continued to attempt suicide, despite Mori's best attempts to dissuade such behavior. It was during this time that Mori learned that Dazai was a complex, wise, and dark individual.
At age 15, Dazai met Nakahara Chuya, also 15, and after untangling a complex plot surrounding Chuya, both boys officially joined the Port Mafia, Dazai quickly rising to the rank of executive.
Some time at the age of 16, Dazai befriended Sakaguchi Ango and Oda Sakunosuke (the second of which he nicknamed Odasaku), took in an apprentice named Akutagawa Ryunosuke, and fought in a brutal battle between dark organizations dubbed "the dragon's head rush". The last of which gained Chuya and Dazai the joint nickname of "Double Black", for their part in destroying the other organizations over the course of just one night.
When Dazai turned 18, he entered another battle between organizations, this time the enemy coming from overseas, an organization named Mimic. Towards the end of the conflict, Mori sent Odasaku into battle alone, a suicide mission. Dazai followed him, and witnessed his death. In his dying moments, Odasaku begged Dazai to become a good person, stating that he knew it didn't matter much either way to Dazai, and that nothing could fill the void he felt, but that by becoming a good person, it could make things at least a little more beautiful.
Dazai took those words to heart, and defected from the Port Mafia soon after. He met with the Special Abilities Department commander, Taneda Santouka, and found out about the Armed Detective Agency. He went into hiding, under Taneda's recommendation, and after about 2 years, joined the Agency, with no-one knowing the truth about his past, save for the Mafia members themselves.

RP Sample:“It's raining outside.”
Dazai leaned against a cold stone, his head resting gently near the top. “It's raining, Odasaku. Wouldn't that be perfect? The ocean would be turbulent right now…..”
He stared ahead, and despite the rain, there was a calm melancholy surrounding the area.
“Chuya was livid today. I saw him for the first time in years. That hatrack is still short. You remember him, right Odasaku?”
With no response, Dazai continued on. “Akutagawa-Kun wasn't too happy either. But I planned on that, of course. Now things are going to fall right into place.”
Once again, there was only silence, so Dazai spoke softly, “I still remember the times at Lupin's. I still have that photo. Ango gave me a copy. Don't worry, I won't lose it. It's in my apartment. Right next to the window. I know I don't live near the sea, but it's the best I could do.”
A moment passed, and Dazai sighed. “I'm still here, Odasaku. I'm doing what you told me too. The Agency is full of good people. I don't fit in at all, not even one bit. You'd be a better match, they would adore you. Atsushi-Kun especially. You would like him, I just know it.”
With that, Dazai stood, and looked down at the small, cold stone. The rain was beginning to let up, and he could read the words “Oda Sakunosuke” written on it. He placed a single flower, then stepped back.
“Wait for me, Odasaku. I'll be there someday, I promise. Just wait for me.”
