'La Solider gives me all the feels'


This musical is so cute and gives me all the feelings that rewatching the anime did. 
The songs are so fun, I loved the 'Sea Sea Sea Vacation' song. And I even enjoyed Tuxedo Mask's song, I normally don't like those interruptions but it's very well done. Usagi is less annoying to me than the first time I watched this, but lord I remember the costumes being bad, but not this bad lol.



'Whoever designed these should never be allowed to design again'

One overly used and annoying theme (imho) that I remember about the myus (and the classic anime), was the senshi's random love interests. Minako you do not have time to have a first love you are literally in the middle of a fight! I guess this makes it more appealing to younger children, but as an adult I find in this instance it disturbed the story.

Also the senshi get taken out way too easily in their fights. I get this is probably to conserve time but really? Aren't they a little stronger than this?

Honestly overall left me with nostalgic feel good vibes. The actors were super cute, the songs were enjoyable. I can't believe it's 25 years old now.

Ah yeah that Endymion costume oh man... I mean at least you know he was easily visible on stage from even the worst seats XD.

This scene and the song Minako sings are actually throw backs to the Sailor V manga! In Sailor V, Minako has a lot of "first loves" so it totally fits with her character here even though this musical is meant as a sequel to the first season of the anime and the anime changes her backstory but...eeehhh XD In the Sailor V manga, she falls in love with a high schooler named Saito (who has an uncanny resemblance to Kunzite) and she had met him on a tree lined road, hence the name of her song. ^^

Listen it was seen from outer space. OMG so bad haha. I know I didn't like the second one as much the first time I saw it so I'm hoping I'll like it more this go around

Haha well, the hoisting of possible boyfriends on the girls was almost(?) over-used in the anime. So, I can understand your trepidation!

Naah, I mean after you've watched Sailor Moon a lot and then go back to scenes like this, it almost feels a bit cliched these days, even though at the time of this musicals creation it wouldn't have been as much of a cliche for the characters back then. Just shows it's age I guess. xD

Anza continues to bless us with her adorable face. Ok guys, it's been ages, but I'm watching Usagi - Ai No Senshi finally!

I loved the first song. I thought it was very fun. But I'm also feeling Kalonite in this musical. She is gorgeous!



Also that villain's song was poppin! Too bad this happens next:

Legit this act is the reason I stopped watching the musicals. Usagi is SOO petulant in this act. Chibiusa is so adorable though and I love her little song
Chibiusa gets attacked and her pure heart crystal stolen, and then Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune grace us with their beauty and perform the smoothest, jazziest number to date. 

After beating the gondola monster (with legit no help from Usagi btw) they head off to do something cooler then fall into a pond, like Usagi.


Then the girls sing an adorable song about their dreams for the summer and the future. And Ami decides to depart next week to study in Germany.


Also actual love of my life Minako is dreaming of competing in the Olympics. 

They are all happy for once in their lives, until Usagi has to ruin their hopes and dreams letting them know baddies have shown up yet again and the world is in danger. I love the friendship between the inners!


Impersonators show up, and Michiru and Haruka casually beat the crap out of them, before continuing on their merry way.

The girls tell Usagi about their plans and she can't handle it, as expected..

Kaolnite tricks Chibiusa into thinking she can take down a mass organization of evil by herself, and kidnaps Chibiusa. Tuxedo Mask tries to save her but is unsuccessful. The girls are walking through the forest and decide this is a perfect time to tell Usagi that they are all leaving her too??

Usagi rushes to the airport to try and say goodbye to Ami who left earlier that day without saying goodbye to Usagi (rude?). Usagi is so upset she sings a depressing song on the airport floor. Ami gets attacked and taken by the enemy. Instead of transforming, Usagi tries to fight them old school style and Tuxedo Mask comes to save the day and sings a super catchy song with the imposters, who then turn around and kill him.


Dead Tuxedo Mask gives Usagi a pep talk after Ami dies in her arms. Wow this musical is dark guys.

Usagi Turns into Princess Serenity, and heads off to Death Buster's Secret Base. 

While the inners are doing... honestly who knows, someone competent arrives at the base

After getting thrown around by the Death Busters for a while, until the inners finally show up and throw the first attacks of this scene. Usagi shows her compassion and saves Chibiusa, and the sailors defeat most of the Death Busters fairly quickly.

Princess Serenity finally transforms into Sailor Moon and saves the day!


Mercury comes back and defeats the Professor. 


Overall thoughts:
I thought this musical flowed much better and showed more of the girls' friendship, which I really loved. I thought it was weird Sailor Saturn wasn't in the musical, but I think that had something to do with where they were in the anime/manga at the time.
