| Hey guys! I enjoy cosplaying, but I'm in the market for a new outfit, specifically a Sailor Moon themed outfit ('cause it's awesome, but also 'cause it's the 20th year anniversary), and as I have moved away from my brilliant seamstress (:_____: ) I was checking out Ebay for their cosplay options. A lot of them look good, which makes me super suspcious. Then I noticed one thing: They all use the exact same image for the costume. Different makers, different companies, all using the exact same picture. For example: Sailor Uranus costume: Cosplay Star // Oasis Costume // Vivishopwaiwai. Now at first I was like "Well, maybe they're all just super quality." But look at the top: the crease at the V in the reinforced part of the leotard is identical for all three listings. As is the slight kilter of the back reinforcement; the only difference is the image quality. ... ¬.¬ so they're all damndirtyliars. And it's not just with Uranus cosplay, either; unless the image looks remarkably 'ehh,' in quality, it's this image from the original poster from years ago. I thought it might have been HonestDragonChina's work originally, but if it was then they don't do it anymore. Has anyone had experience with any really amazing cosplay designers? Has anyone ordered from either of these three stores, and if so, has the resulting costume been anything like the advertised image? |

| Oh hun! Be extremely cautious when it comes to buying costumes from eBay. A friend of mine bought a Sailor Mercury costume off of eBay for Animazement last year and it was three sizes too big (In fact, I believe she bought hers from Cosplay Star). She ended up visiting me one day for some major alterations on it so that we could make it work but it took a lot of extra work and extra money to fix it. |

| Hey Paprika, do you take comissions for cosplays? I believe you already did one for your daughter right? |

I do but I don't take commissions though for cosplays. I do have a list of friends or people that I know that does at home. I'll post the list up her later ^^ |

| BurningMandala on tumblr had her Eternal Sailor Venus costume comissioned and it came out really nice. You can ask her who she used.
I used to know a few legit websites but I don't think I have the links anymore, if I see anything I'll post it.
But yes, stay FAR away from ebay, unless like you know the seller and they have a legit website or something and just happen to use ebay for their transactions (which you know these days is kinda dumb cause there is paypal). |

| Well I bought my Sailor Jupiter from this site and it turned out great. I loved the material and everything. It's a little expensive but not as bad as other sites. http://www.azcostume.com/ Here's their Sailor Uranus Costumes. They have every senshi though. http://www.azcostume.com/0078 http://www.azcostume.com/0077 |

| I used Fanplusfriend off ebay for my Kanno from AIR cosplay. Very lovely workmanship and such, and they take custom orders. I've bought quite a few things from them and have been very impressed. |

| Since this topic has come up, I decided to find this forum from Cosplay.com where people have commissioned other people to create costumes or parts of a costume for them. There are those who are relatively inexpense and those whose pricing is on the bit of an outrageous range. The great thing about this thread though is that the people giving the review are those who have commissioned others and give pretty good details as to what the pros and cons were to each commissioner/merchant.

| ^__^ Thank you everyone for you input (but please keep them coming for future GC cosplayers!) And Paprika, all I can say is 'ooooh~' that list is huge! And I love the random reviews in between the lists that give super personal notes (and website links, hehehe). Very helpful! I'm thinking of cutting my hair soon so I think Haruka (or Fighter...) might be the way to go. ^_^ o_o unless I see a Princess Serenity that takes my breath away. Just sayin'. |

| The really annoying thing is most ebay sellers use the satin fabric for cosplay, when it is fine just using normal fabric because satin is too much. And ebay quality really varies, and sometimes they are stolen images that have been re-watermarked. |

These aren't expensive at all, compared to others I've seen!!! Thank you! I've been wanting a Super Sailor Moon cosplay for years! Edit: The Super Sailor Moon cosplays need modification, i.e. the tiaras are wrong... but if they are good quality in making of the actual dresses this is not much to worry about; especially when people on Etsy make amazing tiaras. |
