As far as the attack names go, they probably changed the outers attack names to be more uniform with the Inners attack names. In the Dic dub, they decided to add the Senshi's planet in front of each of their attacks...for whatever reason.... so I guess Cloverway wanted to attempt to be consistent with that with the Outers attacks. However, if they wanted to be consistent with that...why weren't they consistent with other things!? Ugh cloverway. -_-

But isn't the Japanese writing system symbols? If I remember correctly dub Minako said funny symbols.

The Japanese writing system is made up of Kanji, Katakana, and Hiragana. I think it might be a bit offensive to just call Japanese writing a bunch of "symbols". At one time, the writing developed from symbols, but so has all language. So it can be seen as offensive or not, I guess depending on your sensitivity to the subject. ^^;

I'm totally late to the thread on this, but I can't believe no one has linked Sailor Moon Uncensored yet!

And the reason why it could be seen as offensive is because of the fact that dub Minako said she had to read the letter with her imagination, basically saying she made up the content of the letter. That and, Neo Queen Serenity used "funny symbols" rather than letters for the letter, as if she's childish, doesn't know how to write, is uneducated, etc. They could have definitely used an alternative way to address the no kanji aspect of the letter, but they chose that instead and phrased it poorly.

Oh, no I understand how it can offensive and such. It's just I view all writings systems as symbols. Even numbers!
