I’d be up for hosting the Chain Story Game! Also, I can’t remember who ran the Holiday Card Swap last year (was it you, Mercury?), but I’d be happy to organize that this year or help with running it if needed

Edit: is there a difference between the card exchange and the holiday card swap? Just noticed that, so disregard what I said if you already have it under control, Mercury!

I'm totally gonna plan a christmas/holiday toy quiz! Also, we're allowed to re-host flash games from previous years this time? Oh hohoho. If that's true, I could plan one for every week.  

also major thumbs up for using gifs from die hard, merc. I love that movie so much.

The card exchange is what I'm running, and it would be the same thing as a card swap; sorry for any confusion. We did also have a gift exchange, which Jupi organized; I'm curious if that will happen again.

I'll write you down for a holiday toy quiz! I'd be okay with having previous flash games hosted again if we can't find any that are new. It's kind of nice to get a bit of variety, if we can!

Okay, I'll be taking the pet sledding game, the first snow game, and using winter bells back from the first year I hosted. I also found a new game I found about migrating birds called wings over water.

If Jup doesn't want to do the gift exchange again, then I can host it.

I'll also do the Christmas tree decorating contest and WOW KAI STOLE THE RECIPES I WAS GONNA DO THAT. In the spirit of Christmas I guess you can have it.

Is it cool if i also add regular christmas Mad libs too? im not sure how many carols ones there are.

I'd like to do Karaoke! Has anyone tried doing that before? I was thinking to do it via livestream.

The format would be like at anime cons where only one person sings at a time. If there's enough interest, I can do multiple sessions - more if I have a partner. It'd be nice to allow duets but I'd have to look into the audio setup more closely to know if it's possible.

EDIT: No problem if there's no one available to be my partner here btw. I'd just run the session(s) in the weeks that I'm here :3.

Okay, so this may sound a teeny bit dumb, but should I re-use headers from the flash games when I hosted them in the past-or since it's all new for this year, have fresh ones made?

This isn't a silly question at all! Sometimes Diana can get really overloaded with all the December image making (all the bumpers and headers for the games, the festibration countdown calendar, stamps) so it's considerate of you if you're okay with using the same headers, but if you want to request new ones there's also no real restriction/harm in it, so it's a personal choice! I was going to reuse the gift one from last year actually, but it has the year on it so I couldn't!

I'd also like to host an Artist Contest! I had a few ideas for it but I asked Maru first since she usually hosts it and she gave me the go-ahead

You are welcome to give it a try! We've had some karaoke in the past, but it's been years, I think.

I second Jupiter's comment! You may reuse a header if it doesn't have last year's date on it, but you can also ask Diana for a new one.

Sorry to do this but I'm going to need to change my plans for a number of reasons I won't go into here. Good things IRL but making it difficult for me to pin down timeslots for the karaoke sessions.

I'll do a crossword instead if that's alright. I'd like to do it mostly based off of any and all winter SM references, which might mostly come from the S movie. So, I'll have it be due sometime after Brit's livestream if possible :3.

Thanks for letting me know there's been a change! I've updated it on the list of events.

It's actually great to have events start on different days and end on different days, since Festibration is over a month long! I will be making a calendar to help everyone navigate, so we'll want to try and get some actual dates figured out before the event starts.

You do not need a finished example or to show the empty spots. Mad libs seem to be self-explanatory.

I was looking at past otaku contests to try to think of ideas. I was thinking of doing something with Santa's reindeer? I saw a bunch of Santa themed things in the past but I was wondering if that was even a decent otaku creation idea. Like it might be kinda hard to create an otaku based off a reindeer. The other idea i thought of was maybe snowflake themes?

Hmm, I agree on the note that reindeer might be hard for enough people to come up with ideas for. Snowflakes as a theme could be cute, although you may get a lot of very similar entries. I did a bit of internet-based brainstorming for winter themes, maybe you can find a use for one or it inspires you to something better:
• Santa's Workshop/Holiday Toy Workshop (If we can avoid "Santa" in the title of the event I'd appreciate it.)
• Holiday Desserts/Cookies
• Winter Wonderland
• Snowmen and snow angels
• Ugly sweater
• Nutcracker
• North Pole
• Jack Frost/Krampus/"end of year holiday-related figures that are not Santa"

You could also make it themed for New Year's! We always try to include a bit of new year's cheer in Festibration, and I don't have any events for that part just yet.

As I was looking on past events, Santa was allowed in several events and in titles of name. Generally Santa is as commercial and nonsecular as characters like Jack Frost and Krampus (theres even movies where Santa and Jack Frost are both in it soo...). Santa even appears in Sailor Moon artwork for the Christmas albums and of course there's Tuxedo Santa from the S movie. xD Also isn't there a different version of Santa for just about each country? it'd be kinda fun to explore that a bit too. Haha. I think if it's treated as how the Japanese treat the holiday it is fine, but that's just my personal opinion on the matter. It is up to staff after all and I'll definitely do as you've asked. ^^;

However... I do like the idea of the Holiday Desserts and Cookies for otaku! There's tons of possibilitis with that. Thanks for the suggestions!
