[OLD] Writing and Roleplaying Apprenticeship Program Guild_apprenticeship_header_by_tsuki_no_kagayaki-da0ygwv
Everyone has a story to tell, but sometimes we need help getting it out there. Maybe you're stuck on figuring out a character, or closing a plot hole; maybe you just can't get the hang of making a believable antagonist, or you're looking for inspiration for a setting or a cause; maybe you're roleplaying, and you're stuck on a profile or character application, or you just can't get that appearance or personality down just right. Everybody has been there at one point or another, and they got past it by looking for help

Here is were you can get that help personalized to fit your style, your strengths, and your weaknesses, by signing up for our Writing and Roleplaying Guild Apprenticeship Program. Once in the program, you will be matched with a Journeyman or Master Writer or Roleplayer whose skills complement your own and is ready and willing to help you tackle your problems with one-on-one assistance, and challenge you to grow as a writer by serving as an accountability buddy and by entering contests, challenges, and workshops with you in other areas of the guild.

If you don't need that kind of personal one-on-one assistance, you might look to our Buddy Program, but if you would like this extra boost of personalized assistance, read below to find out more!

  1. The first thing you'll do is fill out the Apprenticeship Application below. Be honest in your application, so we can make the best match for you! You may even be sorted into a group of like-apprentices and form writing buddies for life as you both grow and mature as writers.
  2. Once you fill out your application, our Apprenticeship Matchmaker will review your application and start the matching process - please allow a few days for the Matchmaker to work their magic and pair you with just the right person!
  3. Once the right Mentor is found, they will send you a PM over the Galaxy Cauldron private messaging system to introduce themselves, and link you to your own personal thread in this subforum to organize thoughts, ideas, goals, and questions - think of it as your own personal scratchpad for notes, ideas, and questions! Please ask your mentors when you need help or assistance, whether it's something time-consuming or a quick-check; but also remember that our mentors may need time to get back to requests depending on their real-life obligations! They should get back to you within three days of your original request with either an answer or a time for the both of you to hash it out together; if you have not heard from your mentor after those three days have passed, please contact me and I can see what is going on, or help you out myself!
  4. Join in our Guild activities to help yourself improve as a writer! There will be special contests or tag-team events for you and your mentor to participate in for Galaxy Cauldron Points, so keep an eye out for those, too! We'll also have double point days for participating in Classes and Workshops, so get out there and write!

Interested in being a Mentor?
[OLD] Writing and Roleplaying Apprenticeship Program UINGJCR
Would you like to offer up your skills and your time to help aspiring authors or roleplayers get started?
Requirements

  • To become a Roleplaying Mentor, we request applicants have a Rainbow Crystal Achievement Stamp from our Roleplaying Section, or have served as a Roleplaying Moderator or Administrator in the past; this is our way of guaranteeing apprentices that their mentor knows their way around the Galaxy Cauldron Roleplaying Section and can guide them through any process our section has to offer, as well as assure a level of [advanced] status with their posting, to help budding roleplayers reach their full potential.
  • To become a Writing Mentor, we request applicants that have reached Journeyman or Master status within the guild, and have completed (or very nearly finished) a story (fanfiction or original), or have won 5 or more official Galaxy Cauldron Writing Contests - side-wide or Guild.

Expectations

  • Mentors are expected to be available to their apprentice(s) and provide critiques or assistance when requested
  • Mentors are expected to make contact with their apprentice(s) at least once a week to see how they are doing with their current writing-related project
  • Mentors are expected to invite their apprentice(s) to participate in Guild activities, such as contests, challenges, and games.
  • Mentors are expected to encourage their apprentice(s) to participate in Guild Classes and Workshops, and are encouraged to join them in such activities.
  • Mentors are expected to respond to their apprentice(s)' requests for assistance within three days time; if unable to dedicate the time required to assist the apprentice in that time frame, they are expected to communicate with their apprentice that they need a little more time (real life happens! No worries XD just don't leave them hanging!).
  • If a question is beyond a mentor's experience, they are expected to connect their apprentice to another source that could help them, or link them to resources or classes that could be of help.

If you meet the requirements above for your preferred program and agree to follow the outlined expectations, please fill out and submit the following form and watch your PM boxes or Skype system for notifications about a new apprentice
