Advanced Character Profile
Character Name: Daidouji Tomoyo (大道寺 知世)
Her surname contains the kanji for "large", "road", and "temple". Her first name contains the kanji for "knowledge" and "generation".
Gender: Female
Age: 10 at the beginning of the series and approximately 12 at the end, presumably 14 when Sakura and Syaoran are shown in the final manga chapter; born September 3 (Virgo)
Universe: Card Captor Sakura by CLAMP
Canon or Original: Canon, incorporating both anime and manga details
Appearance: Tomoyo has an elegant and doll-like appearance. At ten years old, she stands 136cm (4'6") and has a slim and delicate build. Even as an elementary school student, she carries herself with a grace that displays the refined way she has been raised. Her mannerisms and movements are polite and polished. Her skin is a very pale ivory tone, like porcelain. It adds to her doll-like appearance. She has large eyes of a dark violet hue. They generally give off an air of calmness and serenity.
Her gray-violet hair is long and flowing. It reaches her lower back in loose waves and gentle ringlets. She has a straight-cut fringe across her forehead, just about at eyebrow length. She usually wears her hair down, sometimes with a ribbon or a headband to adorn it. Her mother encouraged her to grow out her hair so that she would look like Sakura Kinomoto's mother, Nadeshiko. This is successful--Tomoyo does bear a striking resemblance to Nadeshiko. Tomoyo will style her hair in braids and other manners to suit her mood and the occasion.
Tomoyo frequently wears her school uniform for Tomoeda Elementary School. When not attired in the white blouse and black skirt of the summer uniform or the black top and white skirt of the winter uniform, her personal style is feminine and ladylike. She almost always wears dresses and skirts, rarely if ever seen in pants and shorts. She sometimes wears traditional Japanese clothing such as kimono or yukata. Her clothing choices sometimes look old-fashioned or overly elaborate. Despite this, they suit her and look well on her.
Personality: In many ways, Tomoyo seems too perfect. She is cute, kind, gentle, positive, intelligent, beautiful, and strategic. Although only a young child, she
almost seems to have achieved some kind of "zen" enlightened state that keeps her insulated from the common flaws of human nature.
Tomoyo is very mature for her age. She focuses her attention well and is always willing to provide a helping hand. She is a good organizer with excellent people skills. Navigating tricky relationships between others does not phase Tomoyo--she disarms tension with a smile and does her best to make a situation mutually beneficial to those involved. This ability to focus aids her in other ways. She studies well and absorbs information readily. Her family's wealth and prestige has exposed her to training beyond only school, and her refined demeanor shows that she is well-versed in non-academic skills. Her speech pattern, in particular, is much more formal than most children her age.
Her nature is naturally sweet and accommodating. This is particularly true for those she loves, such as her mother or Sakura, but she is not less willing to do what she can for others in her life. She has a positive outlook and looks on the bright side of things, regularly cheering up people who are down and providing encouragement for others who need a boost to their self-esteem. She takes advantage of opportunities to do nice things for other people. Even people who want to position themselves as her rival are likely to find that she greets them with a smile and an offer of support.
Tomoyo is selfless. She puts others before herself, always willing to sacrifice. This is particularly true for Sakura, because Tomoyo loves her most of all. Tomoyo adores everything about Sakura--her bright disposition, her pure heart, her sweet mannerisms, and even her naiveté and clumsiness. Tomoyo cherishes Sakura's smile; she wants to protect it in any way that she can. She has decided that the best way she can make Sakura happy is to veil her love--expressing it as a friendly and sisterly love, not the potentially romantic love that she feels in her heart--and guide her dear friend towards happiness. She has no room in her heart for jealousy or resentment towards those that Sakura gives her love to.
She has a mild sense of humor, typically using her perceptiveness to tease others about things they believe others don't know about them or can't recognize. (Such as making references to someone's crush, if they think they are being cool and collected around that person when in fact they are blushing and stammering.) These jokes and comments are always good-natured; she never means actual harm or any offense. She is willing to partake in whatever recreational activities her friends suggest, although she typically avoids anything physical.
When it comes to athletic activity, Tomoyo is lazy. She has no known health issues, but takes advantage of her delicate appearance to sit out of anything taxing. As someone who rarely engages in much exercise, she isn't very good at it, and she doesn't seek to improve herself. She would rather watch Sakura demonstrate her athletic finesse.
Tomoyo is not always honest. She is not as honest with herself about her feelings towards Sakura as she could be, although she understands how she feels. She has no trouble lying to others--whether it's a simple lie as part of a joke or something more elaborate to keep Sakura and the others from getting in trouble while dealing with Clow Cards. Typically she does not rely on falsehoods in a way that causes harm to others, but she has never shown hesitation towards misrepresenting the truth.
Some people think that Tomoyo is weird. Her habits are somewhat old-fashioned, having been raised with expectations of formal etiquette. She does not seem to notice or care that she is acting differently than those around her. Tomoyo's favourite thing is creating costumes for Sakura and filming Sakura doing anything. Her enthusiasm for these activities reaches a height that sometimes makes others uncomfortable. She gets a level of enjoyment out of dressing her friend, recording her doing anything--costume or not, editing the footage, and watching the resulting videos. There have been a few scenes that depict her movie-viewing room with a massive screen and imply that she primarily uses it to watch videos of Sakura. It makes one suspect there is something unhealthy in Tomoyo's obsession lurking under the surface. There have not been any hints of that, however, in any of her depictions.
Any Unique Abilities/Skills:• Has an excellent singing voice, often taking solos in choir recitals.
• Loves designing costumes and outfits for Sakura to wear.
• Video-recording and editing is her passion--creates movies of Sakura's exploits as Cardcaptor.
History: The only daughter of the wealthy owner of the Daidouji Toy Company, Sonomi Daidouji, she has only known a life of privilege and comfort. Her mother, a powerful and headstrong woman, raised Tomoyo without any input from her father. Tomoyo is extremely close to her mother and indicates no interest in connecting with her father or issues relating to his absence. She has been told since childhood about her mother's cousin, Nadeshiko, and how beautiful and sweet she was. These stories amused her as a child, but she could not fully understand them.
And then, in third grade, she met Sakura. It wasn't immediately appearent to Tomoyo that this girl was related to the Nadeshiko of her mother's youth, but the friendship that the two girls cultivated opened her eyes to the kind of person her mother was talking about. That type of happy, shining person was real. When she learned that Sakura was the daughter of the famed Nadeshiko, it was as if the puzzle pieces fell into place.
When Sakura discovered the Clow Cards and her role as a Cardcaptor, it was only inevitable that Tomoyo would learn her secret. Tomoyo provided support and assistance to her best friend during these times--designing battle costumes, filming Sakura's adventures, providing prototype gadgets from her mother's company, planning traps for Clow Cards, and distracting others from learning Sakura's secret. There is nothing she would not be prepared to do for her friend, and she was always there for Sakura. Even when Syaoran Li arrived and it became apparent that she had a romantic rival for Sakura's affections, Tomoyo was patient and helpful. She encouraged them to be together, gently nudging them towards each other.
Sakura's "happily ever after" is what Tomoyo always wishes for. She wants to always be by Sakura's side.
Other Noteworthy Facts:• Regularly protected by a team of female-only bodyguards.
• An eraser shaped like a bunny, given to Tomoyo from Sakura upon their first meeting, is her most treasured possession.

Storyline Specific Information:- Magician’s Favour:
Stronger now than she ever has been, Sakura is finally able to separate Yukito and Yue, giving them their own independent bodies, unknowingly sending huge magical shock waves through the magical community making many take notice of her; a young and powerful magician they have never sensed before, and they want that power for themselves. No longer do Yue and Yukito have to share a form. Summer drawing to an end, Sakura takes the next step in her life; college. Moving away to go to the college of her dreams was one of the hardest things she's ever done, but is not so bad when she shares an apartment bigger than her house with Tomoyo, Kero and Yue.
However, things are not as peaceful for long. A rival magician of Clow Reed's has caught wind of Sakura's powers and seeks to take cards from her. She faces many perils, designed to test her and her guardian’s strength before they are transported to another word where they need to fight for their very survival.
While these tests of strengths are happening, Sakura is trying to get Yue to loosen up, to see her as a friend and not just his Mistress. She's also getting marriage proposals from other magicians, seeking to get her power by political marriage rather than by force. Tomoyo being the ever-loving friend, tries to be as supportive as she can, silently pining away on the sidelines. Can Sakura and Yue come to an understanding and will the marriage proposals ever stop?
Tomoyo is now an 18 year old university student. She owns a large luxury apartment that she shares with Sakura, Kero, and Yue. Beyond her studies, Tomoyo is preparing for her eventual succession as president of the Daidouji Toy Company, learning from her mother and other company employees. She looks even more like Nadeshiko, Sakura's mother, now that she is a teenager. Sakura is still "the person I love the most" to Tomoyo, although she has never revealed her feelings. As the marriage proposals from other magicians start flooding in, it is harder and harder for Tomoyo to remain silent on this issue as she provides support and comfort for Sakura.
RP Sample: "Wow, Daidouji-san, this is the fourth year you haven't been able to participate in the Sports Day Festival," a classmate commented, concern evident in her voice. "I'm so sorry that you keep missing out!"
Tomoyo smiled, a small motion that looked as though it echoed perseverance. She waved her hand very slightly, as if to dismiss a thought, and cast a slight glance down at the bandage wrapped around her ankle.
"Oh, it doesn't hurt," her sweet voice replied. "I feel badly that I will be unable to assist our team. The doctor did insist I let it rest and heal."
The small talk continued in that vein. Every time another student walked by, the topic inevitably strayed to her injury. Those who knew her, and remembered the previous years with the gray-haired girl sitting on the sidelines and cheering on her classmates, wondered if it could be some kind of bad fate. She kept up a cheerful face, always with words of confidence and luck for the many athletes. A good deal of pitying glances were cast her way, but she never seemed put off by it.
In fact... this was not a mere coincidence. The Sports Day Festival was a very important time for Tomoyo. She couldn't waste it running in races or competing against her other schoolmates. As the relay race runners lined up on their marks, she adjusted the focus of her camcorder and read the lighting levels once more. And then she spotted what she was looking for, violet eyes searching the crowds.
"Sakura-chan! Good luck!" she called, waving the hand that did not support her camcorder. From this vantage point, she'd be able to catch
every moment of Sakura's activities! She couldn't wait to watch it later! Sakura was always adorable to see in action!
