Appearance:
Hotaru is a petite girl with short dark purple hair, violet eyes, and pale skin. On normal days, she wears a black turtleneck sweater, grey skirt, and black stockings. On other days, she will wear a black mini dress, and dark blue pantyhose. Her school uniform consists of a red top, green skirt, and blue pantyhose. She stands only at 4’10. Because of her ability to age rapidly when she has been reborn, her height and age constantly change.

Mistress 9: As Mistress 9, she becomes a fully grown adult who bears little resemblance to Hotaru. She has long black-purple hair that reach down to her legs. She wears a blue top with a black skirt in the anime and a white skirt in the manga. Decorative white beads adorn her top on the sleeves. On her forehead she has a black star.

Personality:
Hotaru grew up extremely sheltered as a child due to her sickness. She didn’t have many friends and was frequently lonely. This was further felt as her father was pulling further and further away since the lab incident that killed Hotaru’s mother and injured her. Her friends thought that she was weird because of her sickness and due to now being a cyborg because of her father. Hotaru slowly began to open up when she me Chibiusa, and learned what it was like to have a true friend.
 
As Sailor Saturn, she feels like she is the guest that no one invited. When Sailor Moon gave up everything in order to save her, it meant so much to Hotaru. There was finally someone who believed her to be that important as most people believed that she should have been killed before she awoke.
 
Reborn, she fully became one with Saturn. She is more wholesome, and content. This is in part due to having a real family with Michiru, Haruka and Setsuna. Hotaru learns things quite quickly, having to grow up all over again. However, she is still aware of her duty and takes it very seriously, as she is prepared to die for it.
 
In the future, she would like to be a nurse. She loves to read and collects lamps. She has quite the lamp collection in her room. While she is very polite towards everyone, she can have a slight possessive streak when it comes to Chibiusa’s new friends Naruru and Ruruna.
 
Any Unique Abilities/Skills:
Every time she uses her powers to their full potential, she dies and is reborn until she is needed again. She can rapidly age up when she is needed. She also seems to be able to absorb information quite rapidly to go with her rapid aging. A minor healing ability allows her to heal small scrapes and cuts. Has been known to create force fields out of energy in her civilian form when she and her friends are threatened.
 
History:
During the Silver Millennium, Sailor Saturn was also the Princess of her home planet. She was among those given the duty of protecting the galaxy's Outer Rim. As Princess Saturn, she dwelt in Titan Castle and wore a dark purple gown with gloves—she appears in this form in the original manga and in supplementary art. Unlike the other Senshi, it is stated that Saturn did not awaken in the Silver Millennium until after it was destroyed
 
Hotaru was raised by her mother and father. An accident occurred in one of her father's labs, which killed her mother and fatally wounded Hotaru. To save her, her father replaced parts of her limbs with machinery, making her a cyborg. He also connected with Pharaoh 90, who had her possessed with a Daimon who would become Pharaoh 90's partner in the future. Despite her father’s efforts, Hotaru continued to remain sick and have seizures thus she was unable to do many physical activities. This caused her to be estranged from her friends and become very lonely.
 
When Mistress 9 overpowers Hotaru's body, it becomes that of a grown woman. Her facial features are maniacal and there is little resemblance to the girl whose body she has taken over. Her purpose is to create an opening to the Tau Ceti Star System so that Pharaoh 90 can access and assimilate himself into Earth.
 
Once all of her allies have been killed and she is confronted by Sailor Moon and the Outer Senshi, her plan begins. Mugen Gakuen itself is ripped apart, throwing the unconscious bodies of Mercury, Mars, Venus and Jupiter into the air (they come to rest on a structure that Kaolinite previously used for divination). She then attempts to escape Hotaru's body (meaning that her power will be able to flow freely) but is surprised to find that the soul of Hotaru still exists within the body and is inhibiting her from leaving it. Nonetheless she swallows the souls of the Guardian Senshi whereupon Hotaru retrieves their Heart Crystals along with that of Chibiusa and escapes to return them to their owners. While she is doing this, Mistress 9 is able to leave Hotaru's body, ripping it apart in the process. Her true form is of a gigantic monster with a ghoulish head and an indistinct body.
 
She absorbs all of the Senshi's attacks and opens the door for Pharaoh 90, who begins to smother the planet. Mistress 9 is assimilated into the lava (which presumably is Pharaoh 90) and just when all seems lost, Sailor Saturn rises from it. When she sets her glaive into the ground, both Pharaoh 90 and Mistress 9 experience intense pain and paralysis. Saturn uses the attack Death Reborn Revolution to drain their power and they both rise into the sky to escape back to Tau. Saturn follows them and commands Sailor Pluto to seal the door forever. Pluto does this and assures that Mistress 9 and Pharaoh 90 can never reach Earth again.
 
Sailor Saturn herself awakens with the great power of the three Talismans united: the Garnet Orb, the Space Sword, and the Deep Aqua Mirror, which resonate at the very moment of the world's annihilation. Her awakening is greatly feared by the three Outer Sailor Senshi, who believed that upon fully awakening, her tremendously strong destructive and deathly powers would bring about the end of all existence, as she did the same during the Silver Millennium which the three Outer Senshi had witnessed: by dropping the Silence Glaive on its sharp edge with the intention of bringing about the end of everything and everyone, she turned everything to utter nothingness and oblivion.
 
After the events at Mugen Academy, Setsuna, Michiru, and Haruka lived and raised little Hotaru together. Six months after Nehellenia arrived, five-year-old Hotaru saw a vision of her alter ego, Sailor Saturn, who had awoken within her once more. Once Sailor Saturn restores her past memories, the fully grown Hotaru presents the Outer Senshi with their own colored Sailor Crystals so they could transform into Super Sailor Soldiers' via Crystal Power, and helps the other six Super Sailor Senshi fight the Dead Moon Circus.
 
Upon confronting the Amazoness Quartet, she uses her destructive Silence Glaive Surprise attack to try to break the evil spell cast upon them, but to no avail. After evolving into Eternal Sailor Saturn, she asks Neo Queen Serenity to lend her immense power to heal the Amazoness and restore them to their true selves as Eternal Sailor Soldiers.
 
As Eternal Sailor Saturn, she is now in her strongest and most powerful of Sailor forms. She, again, fights alongside the other nine Eternal Sailor Soldiers' to battle the evil Galaxia, and stop her from dominating the entire Milky Way Galaxy and beyond by stealing the Sailor Crystals of every Sailor Senshi in existence. She eventually returns to her own world to defend Titan Castle from Galaxia's imminent attack. Ultimately, her violet-blue Sailor Crystal is taken and she fades away and is revived as Sailor Galaxia's mind-controlled servant. After being released from Galaxia's evil influence, she returns to life and lends her inner strength and supremely powerful Eternal abilities to give Eternal Sailor Moon enough power to annihilate Chaos once and for all.

Senshi Fuku:
Sailor Saturn's dominant color was purple (choker, collar, elbow fittings of gloves, skirt, and boots), and her accent colors were white (tiara gem, earrings, front middle of choker, and center of front bow) and maroon (front and back bows). Her choker had a white six-pointed star, her collar had no stripes, her shoulder pads resembled flower petals, and the center of her front bow was a white crystal, similar in appearance to Pure Heart Crystals. Her gloves were elbow length with elbow fittings unique among the Senshi. Her boots were knee high and laced up in the front.
 
Super Upgrade: When she transformed into Super Sailor Saturn, her earrings and boots remained the same, her glove fittings were identical to that of the other Senshi, her choker had a yellow star attached to it, her collar had one white stripe, and the center of her front bow was a violet heart. She had the regular shoulder pads with translucent parts, and the back waist bow was enlarged and lengthened. In the manga, the star on her choker had a purple gemstone in the center.
 
Eternal Upgrade: When she transformed into Eternal Sailor Saturn, her choker was V-shaped and the center of her front bow was a lavender five-pointed star in her maroon front bow. Her shoulder pads were large lavender puffs with two patches of purple fabric attached to the bottom. Her gloves became longer, reaching to her upper arms. Her belt consisted of two ribbons, one purple and one lavender, with two long, thin back ribbons, clipped together by a golden five-pointed star. Her back bow was lavender. Her skirt became two-layered, the top layer being purple and the bottom lavender. Her boots were knee-high and white, and each had a purple V-shaped border with a golden five-pointed star at the top. Her tiara gem was a purple five-pointed star and her earrings were dangling, purple five-pointed stars.

It was amazing what having an actual family felt like. For the first time in her life, Hotaru felt complete. She has so many wonderful people in her life that actually care about her. Usagi had even risked her life to save her. It took a little getting used to, after all, she had been isolated with her father pulling away a little bit every day for years.

“Hey Hotaru-cha, you coming?” Chibusa called, snapping Hotaru out of her thoughts. Smiling, she nodded, jogging over to her friend. As far as she was concerned, everything she had gone through became worth it in the end.
