Appearance: Rei is with a height of 6’3” as tall as the average. She is thin and has long legs, but yet her body is adorned with curves. Despite her black-purple hair and her dark purple eyes, Rei has quite fair skin. Her forehead is covered by bangs and her heart-shaped face is framed by the already mentioned dark hair which is straight and reaches to her thighs. Rei has large eyes with long lashes. The way they are tilted up at the end gives her a more traditional appearance than the other characters have. Despite her young age she radiates a sense of elegance which also attracted Usagi’s attention at the beginning.
 
Most of the time we see her in her miko outfit which consists of a white top and red pants. Both of them are very loose. The pants are upheld through a belt made of cloth that is tied up to a bow. Her feet are covered by slippers.
Other than that we also see her in the plain and nature-colored school uniform of the T.A. Girl’s Academy or in her casual rags which are mostly elegant and colored in black or red.


Princess Mars: Princess Mars’s appearance doesn’t differ that much from Rei’s appearance. However, her clothes are different. Princess Mars wears a floor-length, red A-line gown which has a heart-shaped neckline. There are two hanging ribbons on her back; one ribbon goes to the left, the other one to the right. The middle part of the dress is in a lighter red shade than the main color is – it’s almost a pastel shade. Also, the part in the middle puckers. The dress is upheld through two red thin spaghetti straps, one at each side. However, these aren’t usual spaghetti straps: they have small golden embellishments with little gems in the middle. She wears high-heeled pumps which have some openings on the top and has a small piece of cloth around her neck which is tied up to a knot. Furthermore she wears an amulet.



Personality: Rei is a very confident and impulsive character in the anime, sometimes you would almost think that she is irascible and tends to fly into a temper. This gets especially clear when she argues with Usagi which happens quite often. However, mostly they are arguing about unnecessary things that aren’t worth to argue about them. Due to that the viewer gets the impression of Rei being testy. But actually Usagi is very close to her which shows that Rei doesn’t want to provoke the people she argues with but rather because of a sort of entertainment and sometimes even because she only means well for them. So you can say that Rei is a sincere and good-hearted girl that only has difficulties with showing her true feeling towards other people. This might be because she never had friends before Usagi. This impression gets also confirmed when the series goes on: Over time Rei gets less and less irascible and actually shows her sincere personality. Another reason for Rei's loneliness, before she met Usagi, is that Rei is independent: She prefers it to handle things on her own instead of asking others for help. In that way, she avoids other people's proximity too. And even after she had met Usagi and the others, she still has problems to let people in to her world.
 
In the manga, however, you wouldn’t even think of Rei being irascible and unbearable. Unlike in the anime, Rei is a lot more calm and prudent; she shows herself as a sophisticated and intelligent girl that displays an almost aristocratic behavior.

But in both, in the anime and the manga, Rei is very passionate about things she likes and loves. Spirituality also is a big part of her life, that's why she spends much time with it.

It's her dream to become the head priest of the Hikawa Shrine and also wants the shrine to become more popular in Japan. Rei enjoys singing and acting; often she composes her own songs and performs them at festivals which she mostly organized on her own since she has an exceptional good organizational talent.

Any Unique Abilities/Skills: Rei has supernatural powers: She often has visions of the future and premonitions and also has the unique ability of fire reading. When she senses the danger, she also uses the fire to see clearer pictures of the vision she saw before. Furthermore, Rei is able to tell someone’s fortune and can also paralyze a demon with her Ofuda.
 
History: During the era of the Silver Millennium, Princess Mars, the Princess of the red planet Mars, lived in the Phobos-Deimos Castle and was among others responsible - together with Princess Mercury, Princess Venus and Princess Jupiter - for the Moon Princess’s safety. It’s not officially stated, but it’s assumed that she was in a relationship with one of the Earth’s Generals: Jadeite.
 
One day, two maidens appeared in her castle. Later it came to light that Phobos and Deimos were coming from the planet Coronis and were sent to Mars in order to protect their princess.
 
Time went by and after the Silver Millennium and the Moon Kingdom has fallen, the Princesses – including Princess Mars – were reincarnated on Earth. The former Princess Mars is now called Rei Hino. Rei’s mother died when she was young and her father is always busy because of his duties as politician. That’s why Rei lives with her grandfather at the Hikawa Shrine where she is working as a miko. Before she came across Usagi, Rei always was a loner since the people were scared of her special abilities and her crows, Phobos and Deimos. However, Rei’s life changed tremendously when she gets to know Usagi and Ami. During a fight it comes to light that Rei is the soldier of passion, Sailor Mars, and has to fight the evil together with other Sailor Senshi. From then on, the Sailor Team had to fight enemies continuously. During that time Rei and the others also got to know more people like the Senshi from the Outer Solar System or the Starlights from another galaxy.

Storyline Specific Information: [RPG Event] The Lunar Chronicles: Phase II - Waxing Crescent (As Princess Mars/Sailor Mars): When her beloved Princess, Serenity, landed on Earth and with this in the middle of a wolf hunt, Sailor Mars and her fellow Senshi came after her in order to protect her. As they arrived, they got to know five men they never saw before. Serenity is head over heels in love with the Prince of Earth, Endymion, and as it seems he is falling for the princess as well since he eventually invited her to attend a soon upcoming ball. In the meantime, the young man who introduced himself as Jadeite at the beginning had caught Mars’ interest. Nonetheless the Princess of Mars was aware of the fact that any Earth-Moon-relationships were forbidden, so she and her friends headed back home at the end. The enamored Moon Princess, however, couldn’t accept it to break the contact to the Prince and so she begged and cajoled Mars and her fellow Senshi until they finally agreed to come with her to the ball. This RP will focus on the events happening during the ball.

Senshi Fuku: Despite her continuous development of powers and attacks and with this the emergence of different Fukus, there still are some things that always stayed the same, no matter if she’s wearing her regular, super or eternal Fuku. Her Fuku’s signature color is red: Her collar, her skirt, her back bow, the end of her gloves, her choker, her tiara gem, her earrings and her brooch are always red. Furthermore her bodice and the main part of her gloves are always white. Her earrings have the same shape as the symbol Phobos’ and Deimos’ have on their chest. Throughout the series Sailor Mars wears a golden tiara on her forehead.
 
Sailor Mars: In her regular form as Sailor Mars, she wears red heeled shoes and white elbow-length gloves. On her red collar Sailor Mars has one stripe in the anime and three stripes in the manga. Right under her collar there is a purple front bow – which is more of a black shade in the manga – that is covered by a round, red brooch. In the manga she additionally wears an embellishment right above her skirt that looks similar to an elegant brooch.
 
Super Sailor Mars: As Super Sailor Mars, the shape of her brooch has changed into a red heart shape. She also has a small golden star in the middle of her choker and the ends of her back bow have extended now. It’s also noticeable that her sleeves have changed. Instead of the third white puffy ring, she wore in her regular form, she now wears a semi-transparent, more loosely sleeve end that also has another form. In the manga, the bow has a more purple shade than before – though it’s still quite dark – and the collar only has one white stripe at the edge. The star on her choker also has a red stone in the middle.  
 
Eternal Sailor Mars: In her final form, Sailor Mars’ collar has one white stripe that runs around the edge of the collar. And also besides that, many things have changed from her Fuku. For example, her skirt is now tiered – the upper part has the same red color as most of her Fuku while the lower part is more of a red pastel. Above her skirt there are two ribbons – once again, they both have different shades with the upper one being darker than the lower one. In the middle they are covered by a golden small star. Next to her back bow there also are two ribbons. One goes to the left, the other one to the right. The color of the ribbons is the brighter red shade. Also, the lengths of her gloves as well as the sleeves have changed: The gloves take more than three quarter of her arm now and the sleeves are puffy and semi-transparent. The ends of the sleeves have the same style as the ends of her gloves. However, there are only two three rings now that enclose her arms. As Eternal Sailor Mars the shape of the brooch that covers the front bow as well as her tiara gem have changed. Instead of round shapes, they now have a star-shaped form. She also has a little star on her choker now. It’s also mentionable that her shoes have changed. Her feet, as well as some part of her legs, are covered by white high boots that are framed by are red border at the upper end. In the middle there also are little, golden stars as embellishments.

“There you go,” the shrine priestess said and smiled. For a short moment, Rei relaxed and enjoyed the nice weather. She sighed. “And…one more lucky charm is sold,” she muttered quietly.
 
“I’ll close the shop for today, okay?” The black-haired girl turned around, looking for her grandfather that ran the shrine together with her. Where is this man again? Since she didn’t get a reply, Rei just decided to close the shop and eventually hit the road to the broom, so that she could clean the shrine at the end of the day.
 
While she moved the broom back and forth, Rei looked up and squinted her eyes as she looked to the sunset. Suddenly she heard a deep voice shouting from afar, telling her that she should better come in since it’s slowly getting dark. When Rei turned around she saw the boy who also worked at the shrine: Yuichiro. She nodded and leaned the broom against a wall until she finally went into house.
 
However, before she could go to sleep, Rei wanted to finish the plans for the festival she was going to organize – but these plans took longer than she expected. Almost three hours passed by and slowly Rei started to get tired. She yawned and stretched her arms since they started to hurt a bit. Suddenly she heard a loud ringing in her room. Due to her tiredness it took her a while until she realized that it was her communicator that rang. What was going on?
 
“Usagi?,” Rei asked when she answered the call. “Is that you?”
She listened carefully to her friend and what she wanted to say. As it seemed, a new Youma had appeared in the park. “Give me five minutes,” she said and eventually hung up.
 
In a flash the young girl stood up, tore open the door and ran into the darkness. In the meantime, she always looked on her communicator in case something new had occurred. When she arrived in the park she saw nothing but trees standing around in the dark. “Usagi? Where are you? Ami? Are you there?”
 
Suddenly she heard a yell. A female yell. “Usagi!” Quickly Rei ran to the place the yell was coming from while reaching her hand for the Transformation pen. “Mars Power, Make Up!” A bright light appeared in the middle of the park and after a few seconds the black-haired girl had changed her clothes.
“The fire of passion and the power of prayer will defeat evil ! I’m Sailor Mars, of the red high heel !”, Sailor Mars shouted when she finally stood in front of a Youma and her friends. “In the name of Mars, I chastise you!”
She noticed how the Youma glanced at her but it didn’t take long until it turned around and continued with attacking the other girls. “You should better leave them alone! Fire…Soul!” A large fire ball was coming from Sailor Mars’s hands, immediately directing towards the Youma. You only heard a shout and then the Youma was gone. “That was close, huh? Oh Usagi, what would you just do without me?” The Senshi of passion smiled.
